Sleep

How many hours of sleep do you guys get a day? I just graduated from college so I'm used to 5-6. I can't sleep till midnight no matter what I do or how hard I work out. Problem is that although I'm awake and at work on time I'm brain dead and have severe ADD in the morning. The best way I can explain it is that my head is an empty vessel in the morning...no thinking no nothing...I'm on autopilot, same after lunch . I can feel my eyes glazing over when ppl start talking to me about anything work related and I can't remember anything during this period. Is it a lack of sleep or am I just screwed up?

To function at my best I like to have 12 hours a night, but I can operate on about 4.

Thats exactly how I am now. First 3 years of HS I would go to bed by 10 (LOVE to sleep) but now this girl im good friends with is in college and keeps me up late haha and I cant go to bed before 12 . Worst thing is 1 and 2nd period are AP Gov or Advanced Honors Legal Studies. By the last 10 min in the 2nd hour I have no clue who I am or whats going on.

6 is the magic number for me...

To the OP: it may be your work that is boring you out of your mind...LOL

You have to have a strict sleep schedual so that your body knows when to get up and when to relax....

Once you've been through your surgical and OB/GYN rotation, sleep is really over-rated. Who needs sleep when you can be standing in the operating room retracting or massaging the uterus anyways?

Seriously, I can comfortably live on 6 hours of sleep, but 4 hours is usually adequate.

sleep is highly over rated - you can get it when you're dead

I've been running on 4-5 for 10 years or so. I just got used to it in college, never really changed. Every 6-9 mos or so I crash, sleep for 12 hour days for a couple days, then I'm back at it.

I prefer six, but have gone with 4 with no major issues in the past. Actually, in the past I've power-napped it for like an hour in my car and been relatively okay.

Working 12 hours overnight on the weekends, and doing University during the days will do that to you...

I almost always get about six-seven hours of sleep. I end up going to bed around 10:30-11:30, and get up around 6:30-6:50. I usually don't actually fall asleep until about a half hour to an hour past getting in bed. I have mad ADD lol. That, and this goddamn website. I can stay up 'till three in the morning posting all night long. It's like crack.

Sleep is NOT overrated.

Sleep helps maintain good health in a MAJOR way.

7-8hrs of sleep is healthy for the average person 18-30 yrs old.

Ironically, the older you get, the less sleep your body requires.

I don't function well with less than 7 hours of sleep. Come mid day, I'm dead and ready for bed.

With 8 hours, I'm at optimum performance.

More than 8 hours usually makes me droggy.

Sleeping too much isn't good for you.

Like anything good, do it in moderation.

Damn, now I feel like I sleep way too much! I get about 7 hours a night. On my job I can't drag ass all day, so I say about 7 hours and starbucks on the way to work and I am good. If I get below 5 I am wired for the day but my attention span is complete crap.

4 to 6 hours for me. My shifts are 12 hours nights. I hate coffee, so I cant depend on that stuff. I do sleep 8 hours on my days off though.
