Jet Black used to actually cost the least among the colors, along with Alpine White. Jerez Black as well as all the metallic colors used to have a surcharge of $800 dollars, but now all colors are the same price on Canadian cars. The Canadian cars also have a lot of equipment standard now (for example, things like the premium package, cold weather package, comfort access, etc. on US cars is part of the base equipment in Canada). So the gap has narrowed with the US car prices. Including for things like Competition Pkg, which used to cost nearly $6000 here, but now costs $2900. But the two-tone still has a ridiculous surcharge.

^ I wanted to add that, I suspect for the F8x cars, the differences with the US will narrow more. Because Mercedes with their new C63 AMGs are a lot more competitive in the Canadian market now. Basically, a loaded AMG will cost roughly 10K less than a loaded M3. That's gotta hurt. I will check out the Merc as part of due diligence before I sign on the dotted line for the M3, but one can't claim the C63 AMG doesn't handle well anymore...

What the hell-4k for the two tone? I have the silver/black two tone and it was 350 dollars extra! WTF is wrong with bmw exploiting you canadians! I sure as hell would not have paid 4 k for a couple inserts of silver leather. Paying 350 was a stretch! I would have been happy with all black. I love my two tone leather however and think it looks really sharp with silverstone car. Not as much a fan as the red/black seats but nonetheless sweet car!

Congrats man, sweet ride. I don't know what it is with this forum; I was concerned the N54 would never be right for me and I was not sure the time it would take for the upcoming M-4 to be honed. Stared at three specific models for months. Apparently some type of fever came over me today and I ordered a M-3. I blame you guys for this. I might even update my profile due to this. Glad to see another buyer went out and grabbed the dream with no regrets.

BMW Canada exploits us because they can, lol. The competition package cost nearly $6000 in 2011 (with special order fee and taxes) but people still bought it. Canadians *can* import *used* US cars (not new ones), but most people still do not go that route. First BMW Canada threatens to make your importing process costly (mandating thousands of dollars to change your instrument cluster from miles to km and turning on your DRLs and requiring that it be done at a BMW dealer so they can be insured of ripping you off) and re-sale value of imported US cars still sucks in Canada for some stupid reason. Some brave Canadians have imported for very significant savings, but most people still do not want to do it. In addition, when you're talking 60-70K, it's not everyone who wants to fork over all that cash at once... (obviously no financing or leasing from BMW available) The biggest threat IMO is the competition like Mercedes. Mercedes and BMW fight tooth and nail here in Canada for #1 spot among premium cars. Mercedes has aggressively launched their new 2012 C63 AMG sedans & coupes with perfectly fair Canadian pricing. Porsche has also reduced their Canadian prices. BMW has so far responded by mostly adding content (which does protect used cars prices), but I think it will be more difficult for them to avoid adjusting further in the future... Anyway, sorry about the OT. OP - add your car to the Jet Black thread (under a sticky) in the Pictures/Videos section. There is a dearth of Jet Black cars under that sticky and its a shame.

Congrats for the order! Definitely no regrets here. It will be interesting what they come up with next, but the current V8 is mature and pulls harder than I was expecting. |

Big fan of the Fox red/Black/Black interior, looks great. Interesting houses you must live in the southwest ?

Thanks everyone. The only thing spoiling my fun at this point is a nasty rattle somewhere around the center console. Seems to be worst when cold, which might explain why I didn't hear it during the test drive (car was parked in the showroom.) A bit disappointing, I'll have to take it in unless someone has a better suggestion.

By the way, the ZCP wheels are very nice looking but what a pain in the a$$ to clean! I just switched to my winter wheel/tire setup today (ZCP look-alike VMR wheels in 18" with Blizzaks) and cleaned the ZCP wheels/tires before putting them away. It is almost as if they were designed with the intent to have as many nooks and crannies as possible. They took about 2X the time to clean as the Champion wheels on my Porsche. These will likely only get one real cleaning per year. Sorry for the rant! |
