Diffuser: I don't recommend this unless you can find a proper design that can actually guide the air out of your under panel. You would toast your lsd, tranny and exhaust.
Front bumper: M3 GT2. Front lip: M3 GT2. Or maybe mine? |

Diffuser: because of the inherent geometry of the car, no diffuser on the market will make any significant difference, or any difference at all.
The lip I would recommend is the GTS/GT4 lip. This is a part actually wind tunnel tested to be effective. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=510934 Not sure what you goal is. If it is just for cosmetics, then buy whatever that looks best |

i believe more benefit at high speeds with the spoiler like pictured above and i believe Martin_D also tested the Varis wing.

From Martin D's wind tunnel trips, weve learned that the diffuser on the M3 will have much more function if the car has a front flat splitter, and as flat of a bottom as possible so that the rear diffuser sees non turbulant airflow. The center of the M3 is all open so the air has many places to go.
The BMW GT4 nor GTS lips have full front undertrays or flat bottom panels, just FYI |

I am not really convinced that if you have a full length carbon flat floor and diffuser you won't see a decent gain granted it may not be as much as a bloody great big wing on the back but the drag won't even be half as bad as the wing with Cd vs Normalised force on the wheels. Also not too convinced that the balance wouldn't be there, the splitter is probably the likely point to look at as you want a certain amount of airflow going under the car. there should be end plates on the splitter really to stop spill over on the leading edge as it creates vortices and increases drag. Diffusers are generally seen as a free way of getting more download on the vehicle with less of a penalty in drag increase so it seems a bit silly to put massive wings and splitters on the car and forgo the obvious, unless they had a limited budget to do the aero work necessary Note that Diffusers create a low pressure underneath the vehicle so a flat floor becomes very beneficial for smoothing out flow and reducing drag. The idea that any car could not benefit from this ground effect is ignorant. XD EDIT: Also please note that a bunch of vapour lines from a vapour generator don't give any idea of what the aerodynamics like unless you're A) Moving it around B) Looking at what the flow is doing C) Its only good as an indicator of vortecies across the bodywork. Seperately: IMO That is not a wind tunnel but a big ass fan with some vapour trails just to make the cars look cool. There are no slotted walls, no belts or Boundary Layer ducts to remove the boundary layer or any pressure pads for measuring weight. Fact is nothing can be taken from those photos as they are completely useless to anyone with a real engineering background. This post is for people's benefit should they be trying to scour the Internet for relevant information to aerodynamics on the BMW M3. If anyone would like to know more about Aerodynamics I recommend the book Road Vehicle Aerodynamic Design. It will give you some more accurate knowledge to base any information on Aerodynamics not random nonsense from magazines that have been completely misinterpreted by grease monkeys which causes lots of problems.
