Is it just a matter of brute force? Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.
stand right above it *may be wear a helmet* lol or just move your face out of the way , put your foot down on the carpet like your squatting and just pull straight up .

i also ordered the one from ebay and as mentioned before the LED is red not orange. It also took close to a month for it to arrive.

I also used a very thick rubber band about 1/4" inch thick ( broccoli stalk rubber band) vs ziptie as the ziptie was getting loose after a few shifts

Mine took 3 weeks....the first one he sent me was broken so he sent me a second, also 3 weeks.

Not exactly a reliable guy, he forgot to send the second one and I had to email to remind him. There is also the language barrier.

hey for you guys who ordered a custom boot for your zhp knob. Did you order the stock size or inch shorter? Im confused since the actual bottom of the zhp knob is in the same location as stock. Or did I just answer my own question...

BMW ZHP iluminated

Here are the pictures of my DIY, by using all original parts including the top emblem that came with ZHP knob.
Notice in daylight has a reflective mirror finish but in dark it iluminates.

Driving around with a 5SPD inlay from the E46 because I hated the stock M3 shift knob that much. What an utter piece of sht.

Will swap the inlays somehow. Don't care that it doesn't light up.

I'm trying to light the ZHP myself. I have 2 questions so far?
1} do anybody know how deep should I go? when I dremel the rubbery area under the emblem.
2} Do I have to cut the wire of the OEM shift knob?

Thanks
