Yes they do come from BMW this way, but only in Europe. Or maybe only in Germany.

Cheers.

Its likely that Michelin made these particular PS cups for the ill fated E9x M3 CSL and when the project was cancelled BMW were obliged to take the tyres that Michelin had manufactured (or were committed to manufacturing) . These tyres were then fitted to some Euro markets for several months but no longer AFAIK. Anecdotal reports are that they don't offer much extra dry grip, poor deep water grip and a short tread life.

I pleased to see at least one or two people advising against overly wider tyres for road use...any extra grip you may get will be at the expense of less "feel" and a less progressive breakaway, as well a good chance of a deteriorated front to rear balance. For road use, PS2s already offer as much grip as you need (for summer tyres) as on the limit they are already an "edgy" tyre. Personally if I could find a reliable peer reviewed opinion on a tyre that offered a similar level of (or even slightly less) dry/wet grip but gave a more progressive breakaway at the limit then that would be a tyre worth looking at. Apparently the Continental CS3 may be such a tyre but with so few reviews I'm loathe to make the switch.

I just put my 18's back on they have Ps2 on them; My 19's have AD08's i feel the PS2 are absolutely horrible in the rain! I have more confidence in the AD08's, the PS2 feel so greasy in the rain. I tried to power down like the AD08's but can't the ass end will just jump out on me. The Yokes AD08 has a more controllable slide when trying to power down and the hydroplane resistance s very good i've hit 120 MPH in heavy rain and the AD08 water evacuation is on par with the PS2. This is my experience with these tires.

I have the Yokohama Advan AD08s in 255/35R19 and 275/35R19. They look very wide, but I had not considered that they might be wider than other brands. Anyway, after 800 miles, including some track time, I can say happily there's no rubbing (if that was a worry of anyone), and they are sticky sticky sticky! I had the OEM Continentals before, and this is a new universe of experience. Big endorsement from me.
