Kids Broke out Back Glass with A Baseball Bat
I've called a couple of places for a replacement and have gotten quotes ranging from $425-$700 and all have asked what prices i've been quoted and mention that they are willing to negotiate...haven't talked to the dealership yet as the service department isn't open til Monday...
All the places that I've talked to claim that the glass is exact OEM specs...why the price disparity? What should i pay? |

I just moved into the neighborhood last week...not sure why the car got smacked...just know that when i woke up this morning to go for a run, the backglass was broken. One the neighbors said they saw some kids running around late at night with a bat trying to knock off mailboxes...I guess the car was an open invitation.
I have a garage, but the door isn't working...had an appointment to have it fixed Monday...a few days too late. |

This reminded me of the time when I was a kid. My brother was very upset with me and he grabbed a bunch of small rocks and try to throw them at me, but I ducked and they all hit the back class of our parents' station wagon....WHOOPS!!

Damn juvenile delinquents!
Hope they catch those little s.o.b.'s, and put them a jail cell with a large fellow named Bubba. Best of luck getting your car fixed soon.

Hate to hear that, parents need to control their bad ass kids is what it comes down to. Me and my wife know where our kids are 24/7. We meet the parents of the kids that they play with and are involved in all aspects of their life's to try to steer them away from DUMB stuff like that. Hope it all works out though for you, I would stick with OEM as well

Kill them! Well at least if you can find them, press charges because I'll bet their parents don't give a shit and won't do much about it. Good luck and get the garage door fixed ASAP!!

This is really getting out of hand. A few months ago I was sitting on my porch. My car was parked in the street because the in laws were down an the needed to be parked as close to the house as possible. It was around midnight and I saw a guy about my age.. late 20s trying to open car doors. When he got to mine he didn't see me on the porch.. so I said in a very stern voice, "If you touch that car you are dead".. he looked at me shocked and replied, "dead??".. I stood up and repeated, "Dead"! He just walked away and never looked back. What a jackass. I think he knew I wasn't bluffing.

Good luck with the repair man. If I were you, I'd invest in a 12 guage Mossberg and wait for the little guys to come back for seconds. Don't shoot anyone, just tell them to get off your lawn Gran Torino style.

f'in punks! Some people are such careless a-holes! In Florida, with State Farm Ins, I just need to call them and insist on OEM and they take care of everything, plus $0 deductible glass breakage.
My 997S glass was hit by baseball a neighborhood kid hit while I was driving down the street on my way home. It didn't hit it hard enough to shatter, but enough to crack the glass. I called ins. co. and they set the appt up for a mobile glass co. to come out to do the job. Very easy, stress-free deal. I just expressed to the installer how anal I am and to please take extra care removing the old glass, etc. GL getting it back to normal.
