Anyone in TX have their windshield tinted?

I had the M3 done with Airblue 85 on the windshield, and while it looks great, where the hell do I stick my tolltag?

I certainly don't want to attach it to the tint. It reads just fine in the passenger seat, but obviously people could be riding there :b

Thanks.

My toll tag isn't even in my car. They will use your license plate. I've done it that way for years (ever since the tag wouldn't work anywhere in my E46 ).

Nah, these things are as thick as a credit card with a small transceiver them. The entire thing is adhesive.

Interesting.
I'll drive around without it for a few days and see if it finds it. My gf got a ton of bills from ZipCash because she had the wrong plate set up on hers and her tag doesn't always work (she has one of the old ones in that car).

If you take it back to the tinter, they'll typically cut out a section for you to attach a toll tag if you want (same way they presumably left an untinted area for your registration and inspection stickers). Or you can just get an Xacto knife or whatever the tinter recommends if you want to DIY. It's pretty easy to remove tint as required, as opposed to adding more. I actually won't be needing one of the stickers on my windshield anymore (parking sticker for a place I'm moving out of), so I'll have a larger untinted gap, but having had Air Blue for a while myself now with a larger gap than necessary over the inspection sticker at my request, the untinted space doesn't ever catch my eye -- and if the untinted space for your toll tag is behind the mirror, you won't even be able to see it.

I never thought the adhesive would damage the tint but i do want to tint my windshield. i wonder if a place in Killeen would do it or i'd have to find a shop in another city?

The tinter I used in Austin says that Texas law allows windshield tint as long as it's "clear", which they define as transmitting at least 70% of light. Air Blue transmits 80, so you should be good even without a note assuming that's what you want to use. And actually Air Blue on our cars' windshields just makes them look like the stock windshields on AMG cars.

I did in my old 335i from lumar Air 80. It worked fine and it passed inspection and the new owner also passed inspections as well. Highly recommended.

Just lmk when you in town and I will let him know when you ready and he will squeeze you in. I always get appointments from him even if he is super busy. I'm currently waiting on my front lip so he can place the clear film on my front end.
