I'm about to leave for Munich to pick up my M

and thought I'd ask for your restaurant recommendations. I'm only in town for a few days and would like to hit some traditional German cuisine during the evenings.

I've searched the ED threads, Yelp/TripAdvisor, etc. but would still like to hear about your good (or not so good) experiences. Much obliged!

I enjoyed The Glockenspiel Cafe (http://www.cafe-glockenspiel.de/) for breakfast. Amazing view!

We hit the plaza with the Hofbrauhaus every night; bunch of great restaurants right around there.

Hofbrauhaus is definitely cool to hit up. Pretty touristy and regular spot.

Augustiner brewery/beer hall is excellent as well.

I second this ... Give it 5 Stars ***** a place not to be missed ... Enjoy.

If you like fine German Dining your friendly delivery individual in Munich will provide you with a great list as well.

PS. 1 park your car in a save place always or you will have sleepless nights.

PS. 2 obey the speed limits on the autobahn (fatalities are up 10% this year) Police record infractions on video then take you to the next rest area to pay the fine by ATM ... 2 fellows from Italy paid over 600 Euros for overtaking on the right and speeding violation in a city area controlled speed zone. Locals go to curt, we as visitors pay on the spot.

Other than that I just walked around and found spots that looked interesting.

I asked for a Welt parking pass for the night and my delivery specialist provided one for free. They have a very nice underground garage.

Unfortunately it's the worst time of year...forecast says snow/sleet while I'm there.

Not crazy about getting the brand new M covered in salt/crud.

not a good idea. But enjoy your trip. Take lots of photos for us, and be safe. Congrats too!

there is a wonderful Italian restaurant along the west side of the Isar river near a beer garden. that is all i remember.
