Damn Dealership!
so my m3 with 17k miles which i just got (i traded in my 09 m3 with 82k miles) has a slight vibration at 85mph++ and i road tested it on all kinds of highways just to make sure i wasnt trippin... and it does infact vibrate...this is the second time i have broughten it back... and they say " we can not verify the concern" and that its "normal" at those speeds if it is vibrating...
isnt this car designed to go fast? lol what to do?

Need to dish out the $$ to get the tires road forced and balanced. Go to a different dealer though, this one seems stupid.
Sometimes they also have to spin the tire to a different spot on the wheel to get the road force down. You really want the road force value to be under 10.

I guess it varies...I pay about $75. It varies from $60-150 I would say.
Tell them to please get the road force below 10 and also ask for a printout of the values.

It's worth it
Also check your tires to make sure you don't have chunks and such...

Have your alignment checked, check your tire pressure, and have them put the "normal to vibrate" in writing. Then send the last item to BMW USA to let them know that dealers are telling people that 70k cars vibrate. What tools.

Eric,
There is a very high chance they over inflated your tires. It is mandatory by law to check and adjust air pressures in every car at service centers (in this case, the dealership) before the car leaves. The technician does not care, and just usually puts 40-45PSI in the tires. The M3 is very sensitive to this, and if over inflated, will induce vibration. Malek

Was very impressed to see that Rahal BMW not only did a solid alignment on my car, but nailed the proper pressure. First dealership ever! ; ) Even most custom shops (around me) that specialize in large wheels, etc. will over-inflate the tires to "protect the wheels from potholes". : P |

Same in US spec cars in US too. The car has a lot more grip at lower tire pressures though in my experience. Although sometimes I do inflate them more to get it to rotate a little better.
