Do you drive your M3 in the winter?
I am toying with the idea as my mother-in-law is using my winter car (2001 Audi A6) during her extended stay.
I have winter wheels/snows, but I kept the car garaged last winter. If you don't drive your M3 during the winter, what do you drive? Thanks, George

2015 Optima will be my "winter" car, Probably does worse then the M3. Good set of tires on anything usually does the trick, I had a 2006 accord with winter tires and car was a tank. Audi's AWD system is hard to beat though

I drive my m3 in winters.
Its kind of fun when you driving it on the snow, but I wouldn't use m3 for long distance driving in winter...

Thanks for the replies.
I am in Southern NH and will need to commute around 100 miles round trip into MA for work. If I decide to drive the M3, I am thinking about switching to Blizzaks or Nokian R2's. George

I barely drive it in the summer! But I have no doubt it would do just fine with a nice set of snows on it. I drive a Sierra Denali in the winter. And spring, summer, and fall.

I drive mine year round. If it's too deep and poorly plowed I either stay in or borrow my brothers car. With winter tires the M3 is a beast. It's only problem is the deep snow due to ride height.
I also try to hit a car wash to rinse the car and undercarriage down once a week to keep the salt and grime at bay.

My M3 is staying in the garage for the winter. Just pick up a 2005 Acura TL 6-speed. Had to retire my 1999 Honda Accord after 388K. One the best cars driving in the snow never got stuck.

I just love it when a V8 car look's like an scarred road warrior Some buy wide body kits to make it look badass....I don't need all that...he,he,he |

I drove mine in the winter for two years but decided to end that practice. Sold my WeatherTech mats and snow tires/wheels.
Seeing as how I live downtown in a big city, the car is not an absolute necessity. The money saved on parking, gas, insurance, etc at this time more than covers any sort of temporary car rentals I'll get. For $40-50/day, or about $10/hr, stuff like Zipcar and Hertz is just fine for extended errands. I figure that garaging it from 11/1 through 4/1 will save me over $1500...enough for that BBK I want.

Can't await to beat the gallardo through winter. Saw last winter a guy DDing his gallardo and I also want doing that! Pure pleasure owning a car and rocking it on daily bases. |

Winters, salt on the road really fucks up your undercarriage! No hard feelings but I'm really glad I don't live there lol

Yes, you will get some rust underneath if you drive your car in areas that get salted. I really don't care. I bought the car to drive. If it rusts out, I'll buy another car. Its just a car. If I wanted to drive a 20 year old Honda most of the time because I was scare my precious car would get dirty or slowly develop some undercarriage rust, I would. No thanks.
To minimize the rust, go through a car wash once a week. No big deal. Lots of gas stations have car washes. |
