but seriously, it sounded fine to me. I agree the braking thing is sketchy - I hate when people jump in front of me and use brakes immediately. However, from your story, you seemed fine. Slight tangent....... Using your blinkers is, imo, incredibly overrated. The whole point of blinkers is to signal that you are about to or soon to change lanes. Using them during, or as soon as you enter the new lane is completely worthless. Keep in mind this is the protocol of about 90% of Americans. They use them far too late just to feel good that they "signaled" and you shouldn't be mad if they cut you off. A justification, of sorts. Personally, if you lane change where I have to make only minor corrections and don't need to use my own brakes much, signal or don't signal I could care less. |

To me, someone who uses blinkers (I use them religiously) in advance of and while changing lanes just shows me that that driver is thinking about what they're doing and paying attention to their driving. When I see a car changing lanes without blinkers they may very well may be paying attention to their driving, but they just look like lazy a-holes to me. I mean how hard is it to use the blinkers.

My rule. It's a cutoff if the car behind had to do ANYTHING different than what they were already doing. Meaning, slow down, brake, use the steering wheel, take their foot of the gas. Now that doesn't cover panicky people who would do all of the above when they can see a car on the horizon. Think of it as that old game Frog where you jump between cars to cross the street. You do what you do while they are happily cruising.

Oh and about reporting. I remember I pissed off a girl in a civic 3-4 years ago and she ended up behind me in a red light. I could see her looking around for a pen to write down, I waved a pen in my hand thru the sunroof offering it to her

I don't mind being 'cut off' by one car length by somebody who knows how to drive (I used to live in Mexico City), but that's considered aggressive drivng. Most folks would lay on the horn for blocks in that situation . But 2 or 3 car lenghts is perfectly appropriate IMO... unless you're dealing with elderly or women who don't know how to drive. And yes, I've gotten my share of tantrums when 'cutting off' women WAAAAAY ahead of them. Mostly when they were distracted and got pissed off because somebody jumped in front of them. Seems like that lady hasn't been laid in a while .

She was trying to get a date. Should have told her you're not single, but thanks for trying.
