Help spend my money, ordering tomorrow
Hey guys, I am going to submit my order tomorrow at my local dealership. I am getting a pretty decent deal (atleast $500 off msrp, going to try to get $1000). I will be test driving one tomorrow, and still really haven't decided between the coupe or sedan, and what options I want. The main sticking point for me is price. I am trying to keep the price at around $58k (62k otd) unless I can get more for my trade in, or more off msrp. Which I know severely limits my options, but I am buying for the performance, not the amenities.
My main issue lies with the tech package. It is the most expensive option, and for the sedan it would put me right at my limit, for the coupe it would put me over. A lot of people on this forum say M-drive is required, a lot say it is a waste of money. I'd like to hear from people who were also on the fence on this option weigh in. Here is a the build I am leaning towards as of now: My M3 Sedan 4.0-liter, V-8 engine Rear-wheel drive See all standard features Base MSRP $53,800 Alpine White $0 Anthracite & Black Cloth/Leather $0 Titanium Shadow Trim $0 Technology Package $3,250 Fold down rear seats $475 Destination & Handling: $775 Total MSRP as Built $58,300 If mdrive is a waste this would be my choice: My M3 Coupe 4.0-liter, V-8 engine Rear-wheel drive See all standard features Base MSRP $56,500 Interlagos Blue Metallic $475 Fox Red Novillo Leather $0 Carbon Leather interior trim $0 Premium Package $1,900 Destination & Handling: $775 Total MSRP as Built $59,650 Please any comments welcomed. I have been there with the delema sd erll. But I do not know why you are ?? on a certain price. If you want a cheap car get a Vette or a 335i or 135i or such. The M3 is not about pinching pennies.
I ended up with: Coupe - no real reason except IMO it's nicer looking and what's the use of having a car like this if you are not going to get the one you want? Plus the CF roof makes the car (looks) and the coupe should have much better resale. Technology - has comofort access (a must) has M-drive and MDM (IMO both a must). Has EDC and navi (both take or leave but the package price makes it worth hsving and only way to get CA and M drive and MDM). Color - get what you want the price is nothing $500 for being happy with the color. --------------- In addition I went overboard to get leather, DCT, Premium sound, sat radio (etc.) everything above the ------- you should get as they make the car. The stuff below the ------- is just extra. |

About the price, I promised my other half I wouldn't go over a certain limit. She is big into saving, I am big into spending, so this is sort of a compromise. And like I said before, its more about the car than the options. As far as color, I really like all the colors, I just haven't seen IB in person. |

I would save the money by getting the sedan ($2700) and buy the technology package.
IMO both sedan and Coupe are nice. I prefer the coupe but saving money with the sedan would be my way over saving money by cutting the technology package. |
