Engine blew up!!
Lol not really since I dont have an e92 m3 yet but I am about to have one and it will be supercharged as well with ESS. The car has tons of warranty available so I will be taking advantage of the free maintenance. If for some reason the engine blows up, can I remove the supercharger kit, flash the ECU to stock and take it to a dealership that hasn't seen the car before, do you think they will do the work to replace the motor?

hmmmm this is interesting... LOL...
ok let me just try to clear something up... 1. your going to buy a m3? 2. then supercharge it? 3. while its supercharge and the engine blows your going to remove the SC before bringing it back to the dealer? ok the first day you drop your car off the dealer for service they will already note that your car is SC... so when something happen to your car they will find out anyways... (SOME DEALERS WILL NOTATE THAT IN THE SYSTEM AS WELL)

what "system"? From my understanding dealerships are separate entities and so are the databases that house all the information for maintenance. I think they only report warranty work to bmw which is a central database, not mods done to a car(correct me if I am wrong). Also, I stated if the engine does blow up, I would be taking it to a dealership that has never seen my car, thus not having any notes about my car(mods, maintenance, etc) Last edited by marcus321; 10-17-2011 at 01:24 PM.. |

Nothing you're proposing here is new, it's just irresponsible to be posting it on an open forum with quite a few dealers on it. |

Yes it would be expensive if someone blew their engine, but you should trust the product you put on your car and except the risk
Aside from being totally morally unsound, thinking the techs at your dealer wont know your car is SC is worth a few gigglz |

Well, ive got ESS on my car for the last 39000 miles, and yet to break,i drive my cars fast, take them to the limit but not driven hard !
so lets say you get your M3 and you SC it! blow it up as you mentioned , i dont care if you never took the car to BMW while it was SC'd,they will find out and you are outta luck ! If you think you are smarter than BMW ,sorry to bring it to you but you ain't winning this time. There are more than one location in your car that they will find that the car had a coding prior to blowing up. They will be able to tell when and how many times the car was in the redline (if you raise your RPM) ,they will be able to see anything and everything ! Good Luck ! |

Its not like it is going to be a simple process to remove all evidence of the SC anyway.
I want to SC my car but it wont be until the warranty expires.

I last had my car serviced in Germany. Registering my car with BMW NA, any dealership in the US can see what service was done on my car. All they need is my VIN or key fob to look it up. They can enter all notes into the database, it doesn't matter what it is. I mean I can't actually say what will happen if you SC it and not have any services done to it, then take it to a dealership later, but they can and will be able to see what was done to the car. The system in the car keeps a record of all speeds, RPM's hit, etc. They will view this and will know that your car was tampered with. Nothing you can do to avoid it. What you're trying is impossible. That is why everyone here is laughing at you. So, either you SC it and accept the risk that your engine life may be shortened, or don't SC it and deal with it being very nice just the way it is (and feel comfortable that you won't run into warranty issues should something happen).

This is the same way of thinking that has gotten our insurance premiums so high, etc. Let me see how I can screw someone out of something, that I should be paying for, but don't want to or can't.

Here's another way to look at it. Basically you're saying in a
public forum that you plan to put a supercharger on your car. You state that you know it will void your warranty. You state your plans to take the blower off of your car if the motor blows up and take it to the dealership to have them fix it. For starters you're telling everybody here you know it will void your warranty and you plan to commit fraud. If you do, I hope the dealer catches you and sues you, if not have you thrown in jail. And whoever told you that information about your car doesn't show up in another dealer's computers is dead wrong. All dealers can see all service records for your car. YASS -- you are so screwed if you try to do this...but go ahead and try. One more thing: I would think any reputable supercharger company that sees this thread will refuse to sell to you. You sound like the type of guy who would put their product on your car, kill somebody in an accident, then sue the supercharger company for damages by saying they should have known better than to sell you their products. Well maybe with the help of this thread...that's exactly what they'll do. |

if you started this thread, you shouldn't be purchasing a supercharger.
