New member with rim challenges
Hi all,
I'm new on the forum and as probably some other soulmates I'm in the (long) waiting process for an E90 Jerez Black M3 which was ordered mid dec 2010. I've been looking at a lot of rims, but the more I look around the more difficult it gets to decide, sounds familiar to someone ? Does any of you have any experience with Schmidt rims ? Pictures maybe ? Remarks ? Schmidt Racelite http://www.german-wheels.com/produkt...id=68&sdi=true Schmidt GT Performance http://www.bandenmax.com/products.ph...40475&cats=371 Thanks for your feedback. Jordan |

I don't know about these wheels, but I know that the first one is really ugly. Second one is better, but there are lots of other choices!

Take your time and try to see some in person on if you can. Personally not fond of the ones you posted. Some of the vendors, e.g. Wheelsto have preselected a number of high quality wheels from respected manufacturers. Might want to visit vendor sites and consider BBS, Volk, etc.

It's good advice to talk to Wheelsto. I bought my wheels from them and was very happy with their service and knowledge. I suggest you stick with a reputable wheel brand such as BBS, HRE, Volk, Advan, or some of the other options carried by WSTO. I have had good luck with my Volks. They have held up nicely on the imperfect roads here in MN.

In the beginning when I had bought my 5-series I had some problem with the tires, the car kept on pulling to the left. My local dealer put on the rims on the first pic just to try if it might be a rim problem, thats why I can tell that they looked great on my 5-series. It seems that Schmidt is also the only one with this high quality material for the outer ring . Feel free to comment... |

I like the second set definitely more than the first....
have had some of the newer style bbs on mine but you either like them or hate them... one thing for sure to note is the m3 brake set up generates a lot more brake dust on oem pads and discs...so if i was to look for a new set I'd be looking for ones which don't take an hour to clean every time I was the car....lol back to basic five or seven spokes where you can also get to the inside of the wheel as well... imo....

schmidt is definitely legendary amongst the VW and Audi guys or even old school BMW guys. the "Bottle Cap" wheel is still Sexy.
having said that, i am not sure if they would really compliment the E90 M3. Like many suggested, with a performance car like the M3, wheels that don't rob you of the performance of the car is key, in my opinion. from the design side, there really are so many to choose from. I always tell our clients, it is really important to have priority when it comes to wheel selection, whether it be performance, style, or if you have specific needs (like our track customers would). I am here to help, if you need any. cheers
