Need some opinions on buying tracked M3

I have been looking for M3 for a while I finally found one with options and colors I want. The original owner was honest and told me that he used the car for tracking purposes and it was tracked plenty of times. He is selling the car on avg market value, not cheap, not expensive so I am not pulling the trigger on a REALLY good deal.

Any suggestion if I should pull the trigger on it? I know these cars were built to survive tracking use but to what extend? What should I worry about? I have listened to a video of engine from start to idle and it doesn't have any metallic ticking or rod bearing noise. He stated that the car was well maintained under original warranty and extended warranty. CPO warranty is almost over though.

The car will be my DD and no intention of tracking it any soon. I am seeking help from forum members. All feedback/opinions are welcome.

I wouldn't shy away from a tracked car, but would expect a decent deal. You can usually expect that a track car has an owner that is very meticulous on its care. The number of track days and level of driver matter also.

If he tracked seriously then he maintained it as well. You may end up with some nice upgrades in the drive train and suspension. I would have it inspected, drive it myself and then decide.

Buy extended warranty and grab the thing.

Most guys who track their car take great care of them. I wash/detail mine frequently, get oil changes every 1,000-1,500 miles. Just make sure it hasn't been in a accident. Most M3 owners who track are down to earth.
