No Price increase for M3, X6, and 1 Series

With all the dollar decline it was obviously that the car’s price will be affected. So, if you want a BMW you better hurry up, as starting June fist all models, with the exception of the recently introduced M3, X6 and 1 Series, will have bigger prices!

Pricing will be increased as follows:

Base price increase of $300 on X5, Z4, 328i and 528i
Base price increase of $400 on 335i and 535i
Base price increase of $600 on the X3
Base price increase $1000 on M5, M6, 750i, 750Li and 6 Series
Base price increase of $1500 on the 760Li
Destination charge increase of $50
Automatic Transmission charge increase of $50
Metallic Paint charge increase of $50
Premium Package price increase of $100
Sport Package price increase of $100

I bet the 2009 M3 will have a substantial increase to keep inline with the rest.

That is the problem now. We are in a different situation as before. The US$ is losing its value plus the economy is still on a downward trend. Maybe if dealers has some 08 model on their lot by the end of the year, most probably they can get a huge discount. We just hope that we hit the bottom and we are on the way up.

The M3 didn't go up because the factors that brought up all the models' prices were already taken into account in setting the base price back just a few months ago.

I suspect any base price increases will be part of increases across the entire model line next year.

Look at the bright side, the labor is now cheaper here. So maybe there is no need to outsource.

The M3 is a very expensive 3-series model. If they jack up the price, say $3K, people will start to look elsewhere. I'm guessing that the M3 will go up no more than $1K. By waiting, until September to order a 2009, you will have a full year of ownership before you get hit with probably a $10K depreciation. If you order one now, it could be built in June with a delivery in July. You would have about 2 months of ownership before the car is 1 year old with a big depreciation. Everyone will get with a depreciation sooner or later. I'll wait a bit to make mine later.

This is what I suspect is right. Price increases are already factored in the new M3's base - that's why we aren't seeing them now with the rest of the model lines.

Unforunately, sedans with DCT haven't been build en masse. Besides, 3-4 months of summer driving beats getting delivery in the winter.
