No problem. All the credit card companies, hotels, and airlines purposely design a confusing system. Takes a minute to figure them all out.

I have 2 CCs for this reason. There have been tons of threads on this. Credit is extremely important in the world we live in. It needs to be treated with extreme care.
Other thing great about amex is disputing charges is very easy.

+1

My bus card was used in France. They called me immediately and asked "is this authorized by you?"

Obviously I was like "wtf? No..I'm here...In LA.. with my card..."

And they refunded me immediately and sent a new card overnight

Ever since then, I've loved loved AMEX and always try to use it over any other card

situations like this are exactly why I use my discovercard as well everywhere. NEVER had an issue with disputing a payment for whatever reason.

Did they give any hassle about if you were direct mailed or not?

Tried an hour ago.. Told her about the offer i knew about for 75k points after spending 1k in the first 3 months, she agreed with me, asked how i go about adding that to my account, she said it'll do it automatically, asked her to make a note on my account with bonus code 6661.. placed me on hold, only to come back and deny me saying the system doesn't show me being eligible for that offer. she said it wont work if i heard about it from word of mouth. needed an actual letter from them. Pissed right now, just going to try again tomorrow

According to this (http://www.onlinetravelreview.com/20...business-card/) 6661 is expired and the new promo code is 6939. Couldn't hurt to give that one a shot...

does not work either.

called 1-800-AXP-EARN. Told them i want to apply 6939 on my account. The girl put me on hold for 5 minutes, then came back and said I would have to fax them a copy of the mailer. This is the only way she would be able to apply the code to my account.

wow I got no hassle at all and they didn't even mention the mailer.

Conversation literally went like this:

"Hi I'd like to add an offer code to my account"
"What's the ID?
"6661"
"1 minute and I'll check into it"
5minutes later: "Alright you're all setup I added the promo code to your account. Make sure you meat all the requirements for it [spending, etc]"

amazingly painless, I was fully expecting what you guys saw.

Honestly given my situation I would definitely not initiate with saying you have a mailer, that just asks for more questions.

It sounds like it is still going on for now, but it may take more than one try to get the code applied to your account. But that's a small price to pay in my opinion for 75k points. I'm undecided between cashing out to $750 in GC or the 112k Delta promotion, but I already have a lot of airline miles... tough choices.

glad it worked for you guys. odd about the spending limit, since charge cards usually don't have spending limits.

Okay so just tried your method and it worked. He noted it on my account. Said as long as you meet all the requirements etc. Then I went ahead and said perfect as Long as I spend 1k within first 3 months I should get the points within 6-8 weeks? And he said as long as the code applies to your account it should work. So that kinda threw me off.. Even though they're noting it for people I think in the end they're gnna check if we were chosen for this promo in the first place. Any thoughts?

congrats. should be chill. In my experience, AMEX is all about customer service, so if they noted it in your account, they'll give it to you. that's why I use my amex for virtually everything.
