BMW Convertibles Needed MotoGP COTA
Hello, All.
I originally posted this in the M3 Southwest area, but I realized that M3 owners in this region might not even know of the sub-forum. So here goes: I've been asked to help recruit additional BMW convertibles for the Parade Lap at the MotoGP races on 13 April 2014. This is at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) track in Southeast Austin, the purpose-built awesome Formula-One grade road course now in its second year of operating. This request is through official channels of the Circuit of the Americas as I've been corresponding with one of their representatives. The MotoGP race in Austin is one of the dozen-plus stops around the world of the world's fastest motorcycle racers in the world, with bikes capable of hitting 210 mph. It is just loads of fun. Friday's schedule is warm-ups and time trials. Saturday is time trials, and part one races of the smaller machines; and then on Sunday is the primary races. The top-class, MotoGp, begins with a Parade Lap, where 12 BMW convertibles will each shuttle two riders around the 30,000 - 50,000 spectators, as they ride in the back (towels okay to protect seats). While the COTA prefers that a participant purchase three-day tickets, they will go for a Sunday-only race ticket for the Riders Parade Lap. So besides participating in the Parade Lap, you can also see the Sunday races! And, unlike the Formula One races, the MotoGP races give spectators a chance to see and touch motorcycles from various manufacturers (Honda, Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha, Honda) and see/buy gear. I can send more details to anyone that sends a Private Message to me. Don't wait! Oh, and let's see a good showing of M3 cabriolets! (M6's, too!) - - - - - Other details from the COTA official: We need about 12 cars – and you will just need to make sure your car is washed and clean for Sunday AM on April 13th. We usually meet in the back of parking Lot A – (can’t miss it) and get the signs for the cars ready which are loose sticking labels that go across the windshield with the rider’s names on them. You usually have 2 riders at a time that will be in your car for the parade lap/12 cars/24 riders. We ask that only ONE person drive the car for media/photo purposes (the less people in the front seat, the better – no passengers). You might want to bring towels to put down on the back seat of your car (if you have one)so the riders can step on the back seat and they usually sit up high on the back of the car trunk area and wave as you go 30 miles per hour or so. Rodrigo (COTA official) is really good about having you follow him and where he will go – it’s easy – into the Pit area, load up your passenger, give them some time to get in and chat with media – then follow the lead car, do a parade lap and then drop the riders off back at the garages. Last year the BMW drivers got their riders to sign the signs we had on their cars and then kept them as souveniers. My friend had Mark Marquez from Spain that won. Everyone loved it – so we wanted to ask for more volunteers. And – you don’t HAVE to be a BMWCCA member this year. COTA magnets will be added on the side of your car and a sticker on the windshield. None of this should hurt your car. - V .

We've got our 12 convertibles. Thanks.
(seems like four drivers from the Bimmerfest family will be there! Cool.) Pictures after the 13th of April! - V .
