I just don't get why people slobber over these frozen colors - they'll be a mega pain in the ass to maintain - especially a frozen black!!! I have a jerez black and i need to detail it every saturday morning!! I'm a car nut and don't mind doing it but its a serious commitment... plus a clear coated car is much easier to clean then basically a "frozen" color that's really nothing but a base paint minus clear coat.... plus there's no HP increase, no brake upgrades.... bah! .. looks nice in pictures though..

I love Monte Carlo Blue!!
How would you know if it's a mega pain in the ass to maintain? It's actually a lot easier to maintain than regular high gloss painted car. My friend owns a Frozen Grey E90 M3 and it's the easiest color to clean. No swirl marks whatsoever. And the car does come with a Clear Coat contrary to what everyone seems to believe.

Excerpt from BMW:
"The special BMW Individual matte paintwork on the Frozen Black Edition M3 adds a rare metallic luster to the vehicle. Compared to conventional exterior colors with gloss finish, the sculpture-like character of Frozen Black paint highlights the athletic contours of the M3. To achieve this luster, a special BMW-developed silk matte clear coat is applied over the Black Metallic base coat."

Wow. Sorry. That is some serious marketing non-sense. Looks like primer to me. No love for Frozen whatever.

Not feeling the car (exterior color and fact that no manual tranny is offered), except maybe for the interior which looks nice with the contrast red stitching.

I personally don't understand the fascination with matte paint. It looks like CRAP, especially on the M3, but to each his own. The red calipers look awful as well. They wouldn't look bad with 6-piston Brembos, but those shitty stock calipers don't need to attract attention to themselves . The red stitching looks tacky IMO. All in all, I wouldn't order that thing even at a hefty discount, let alone pay a premium. But BMW, just like Porsche, know how to cater to egos, selling something 'exclusive', even when you're paying for crap. Or in case of Porsche, paying a lot more for a lot less (Spyder). Oh well.

Good news.

Hopefully my post will be the last time we have to discuss a matte/trim only special edition again outside of the M3 Photos/Video/Media Gallery section!

My guess is out of 20, 18 of them are from a dealership. Then 79,650 will become 95K.

Did anyone here get it?
And why are there so many haters?
How can you consider the buyers suckers?
This was truly a great deal offered by BMW of a very limited car with NO MARKUP!
I'm selling 2011 1M coupes for anywhere from $5k-$7.5k over MSRP.
Do you consider those buyers suckers for paying the market adjusted price for something that is going to be limited?
This M3 is even more exclusive... Yet there was no mark up over MSRP.
Killer deal IMO

All it needs is "Property of U.S. Army" stickers and a gun turret.

People are paying over MSRP on 1M's?

That's beyond pathetic. Those fools are in for quite the rude awakening when they want to sell in a few years.

As far as the Matte special editions... there is nothing wrong with them at all. I am just tired of BMW making special editions that are just color and trim packages. No one cares, if they offered these colors as a standard option for $5000 additional dollars just like the other individual colors they would probably sell a total of 20 of them anyways. So these special editions are just boring marketing exercises.

A special edition should be a CSL.

I'm hating on the whole concept of these limited colors and edition. How many has there been?

Oh you're one of those $tealers. How much would you mark up on these M3s?

The 1M is a different animal, what makes it different is the time window and the engineering. This M3 is just about color nothing else is special.

Yes, because when u sell it used you don't recuperate the mark up. If I get a 1M with a markup and in a few years I trade it in to your $tealership would you adjusted for the markup? I bet you will low ball me at KBB at poor condition. There are probably 10s of thousands of M3 E92 on street. What makes this so different than the other M3 on the street besides the color?
