Exclamation Pre/Post June 08 Pulleys - Check Routing Before Ordering!

I would recommend that anyone considering a pulley with an 08 do their homework and check the actual routing and single vs. double siding of the belt for the power steering and A/C before ordering a pulley kit. Especially if you have a May or June 08 build which is close to the cutover date....

Why?

Because I have a May 08 build which has a "June 08 setup" (double sided ribbed belt with anticlockwise PS rotation). Yes, that's right, the build date stamped on the driver side door is May 2008 my car has the "newer" setup.

Had I done my homework and checked I would have gotten the right pieces the first time. Yeah, I feel really stupid but I thought I'd share this anyway. Learn from my mistake and save yourself a headache and check confirm the routing before you order--don't just use the production date!

Thanks Finnegan.

I was nervous as well before I ordered my AA pulley. I had just got my '09 e90 m3 a couple of months ago, so I fortunately knew that I had to choose the updated 'double sided ribbed belt' version.

Whew!

Cool. The 09s aren't problematic...it's really just those on the "cusp" of the cutover where a bit of extra homework is a good idea.

I understand. It's best to deal with a knowledgeable sales person before ordering a pulley. I dealt with Omar @ AA and he made sure specifically on me getting the correct one.

Yet I can understand you and many other owners being stuck in the 'hot spot' when ordering the right version of the pulley. I'm happy you're sorted out though.

Thanks for the heads up. I was planning on going with the Rogue pulley and I do have an early build date, one of the first M's to come out. I was going to depend on the guys at IND with respect to ordering the pulley because I would have no clue as to what I'M DOING.

Belt routing (reference):

6/08+ and all DCT belt routing

Hope this helps. As Finnegan stated above - it's a good idea to physically inspect your configuration if you are on or about the revision date.

I also have a May 2008 on the door. I went with the Evosport pully. Dale at Evosport took down my VIN number to make sure I got the right set-up.
