Haven't heard that, but I know there's a known issue with aftermarket steering wheels causing issues with the shift and caps key. You should check that out.

What are your new wheel and tire sizes? Too large a discrepancy in overall diameter between the front and rear tires can cause DSC issues.

He's talking steering wheel.

The traction light flickering and the interruption of power is your dsc working fella.

OH!!! Whoops, lol! In that case you may need to recalibrate the steering angle sensor (SZL). Dealer can do it of course, but you may be able to find a less expensive option through an indy. Assuming the new wheel works with the stock steering angle sensor, of course.

If that's not it then yeah DSC could just be doing its job. I just assumed you meant DSC was stepping in under the same conditions that it didn't used to before the wheel swap.

Sensor might need a recalibration you can do the basic one in your garage. Search the e90 DIY forum

I have an OMP wheel and I have had similar problems. When exiting the pits with systems on power cuts out and DSC must be disabled. I drive with systems off so it doesn't effect me, just bothers me a little. Not sure why it happens though.

My bad op. I thought you meant dsc was cutting in while out on track, coming out of corners, etc. What you're describing obviously isn't normal.

When I mess with people I make it pretty clear, e.g.

DSC uses a steering angle sensor to help it determine where you want the car to go and make the physics-defying adjustments necessary to get you pointed in that direction if you get too far off that path, which is why a incorrectly calibrated sensor can absolutely cause DSC to interfere unnecessarily.

UPDATE: Found this procedure over on 1Addicts, worth a shot before paying the dealer considering how simple it is:

repeat the last 2 steps and end in the straight ahead position.

turn off car, wait a minute, restart, and drive away for a few hundred feet.

you just calibrated your SZL ( steering wheel sensor to tell dsc if wheel is turned and to what degree)

other lights come on by default.

Good Luck...

Your E46 also had a steering angle sensor, this shouldn't be anything new to you in terms of DSC functionality. As someone else posted, turning the steering wheel lock to lock will calibrate it. If the towering wheel wasn't installed centered correctly, this could be the source of your issue. Count the turns from center to left and right locks. If they're different, there's your answer.
