Akra slip on + Dinan X pipe. Am I the first?

So I got my Dinan X pipe. Have had the slip on for a few months.... wow is all I have to say.

I love the slip on. Its subtle yet aggressive at the same time, it was a pricey mod but I don't regret it whatsoever. As you all know, there isnt much power added. We all want more... which leads me to think I will probably supercharge my car within the next couple years. As I have been infected with the mod bug.

As for the xpipe, it made the akra deeper for sure. It is louder, but not unbearably so. Windows closed and music turned up, you cant even tell you have a full exhaust. There is still no drone whatsoever. The craftsmanship on the pipe is lovely, you can tell it's not garbage. As for the power? Oh yeah definitely noticeable.. the tires break loose much more and the DSC light comes on much more. It sounds like a thoroughbred race car, deeper down low and then higher pitched up top... and it pulls faster all the way to the lovely 8400rpm redline.. kind of caught me off guard. All in all I love it. As for the smell... it really isn't that bad. I kind of like it actually.

I will post sound clips, I took some strictly akra clips earlier. Tomorrow Ill do the whole thing. Now I just need to find a Delete R

After driving it around some more. I guess below 4k rpms it really has a muscle car like sound really deep and nasty. Above that you start to hear a more sophisticated sound...I'm in love.

Yes was a pretty penny... but not 3500 + 2800

AS for the tune... I think I'm going to wait. Don't want to deal with warranty issues.

im in the same boat as you. had a slip on exhaust (ae) for a few monthes, then got a catless xpipe (rpi) last weekend. the increase in pull is obviously noticeable and i like the smell too. next step is a ESS or Evolve tune

looking forward to hearing your system

I really want to. I mean it makes more sense to me 400 vs 999. But I have about 2.5 years on my warranty and I'm sure software would void it.

get a software tool that you can revert back and forth from stock to the tune. As long as you dont touch the rev limiter and speed limiter you'll be fine. Software really makes a difference, you think it sounds nice now wait until you get it tune, it makes it sound a lot better and the smell wont be as bad

You know that was what I was thinking. However, say the motor has some sort of issue. I'm pretty sure BMW can detect a tune, even if you dont touch those things in the shadow memory. The funny thing is I dont even drive my car hard. Im averaging 19mpg lol.

I ended up with this same set up on my last M and it was amazing. As for the CEL I had the dealer flash the car with the Dinan catless tune to avoid warranty issues

Interesting. My problem is, my dealer that I like and services my car doesn't sell DINAN. There is another dealer fairly close, but they don't seem to want to guarantee the DINAN tune and rubbed me the wrong way.

Did you ever have the full Akra EVO? How does it compare?

I originally had the full Dinan system and then later added the Akra mufflers. Both sounded amazing but personally I liked the overall sound of the entire Dinan system.

Ah I see. I wanted to get the Dinan mufflers.. but I couldn't get over the single functional tip design. How was it different?

Do testpipes and a tune then you will really see a difference :-)

Lol... I don't need test pipes. The X pipe took care of that.
