Are tow hook license plate legal?

I know front plates are required in CA but does the law specify how the front plate is attached?

Just needs to be "securely" attached. I think the tow hook is pretty secure.

Stopped for the 1st time in 20 years for no front plate-12/2012

State police running radar parked on State Hwy 104 in Western WA. Was
in a group of cars going the opposite direction - not speeding. He makes a U-turn with lights flashing and rushes up behind me.

I pull over and he asks for lic & reg - tells me I'm stopped for no front license plate. Goes back to his car then returns & says he's giving me a warning.

Decided I didn't need further harassment & purchased US Millworks tow eye set up.

This is the best solution for me.

@Hothonda

The US mill works bracket looks good, seems to sit close to the bumper. I'm looking for a tow hook bracket right now and i really want one that sits as close as possible to the bumper

Cops are just out for money right now it seems. The other day I was on the freeway and a cop that was 4 lanes away from me pulled me over amidst a sea of cars to give me a ticket for my window tint

I think your problem is more your paint color than lack of a front license plate. While orange looks very sporty on your ///m, it screams to law enforcement--please pull me over I am speeding.

CA is just plain broke. Prop 30 was a sham. I have a US Millworks bracket and its really close. So close that you cant just screw it on after mounting the plate. Some people have asked for the longer lug so they can do that. Other than that, the quality is excellent and you could probably hack a watermelon in pieces and it wouldn't suffer a scratch.

This bracket looks really nice. I have the one from MFest. The only advantage it has over this one is the ease of mounting and removing.

Coppers probably don't have a problem pulling over anyone in a Bright Fire Orange sports car.
