A car is a material item boss..lots of parts made in china and they will break and get scratched and youll fix them and act like you have the only m3 in the world.

OH SHITTTT AHHHHHH gvrmrmrrmrmmmvvaAERR damn..

ran over a curve , 22,000 damage and kkb says its only worth 45... insurance totals it.

So much for that nice babied car. Use the car for what BMW built it for and if something breaks take it to BMW and tell your insurance company.

AND that is how the cookie crumbles...

damn i treated my 335 like a fuckin ferrari when i first got it. Always parked it safely, made sure it was SPARKLING clean for the first two years, always put 93 octane. In my third year, i really didn't give a single fuck about it lol. took it to cheap machine washes, never did a prof. detail and filled it with regular gas lmfao. I realized the car was a complete waste of money

Mmhm..

Its good to have attention to detail and want to keep things in nice condition because that is good for resale value... However, to go absolutely HAM on the car by wasting loads of time for full details is nuts

weird how it works. at first i would handwash it myself, i would park far from the entrance and away from others. every time i would find an asshole parked right next to me. and i would get door dings.

now that i put it through a regular wash and park as close to the entrance as possible my car looks exactly the same

I'm at exactly one year of ownership since new in one week and I must say that I still don't valet it or have a single scratch on any of my wheels or under the front bumper...or anywhere for that matter. I still care...but I care less now. I spend less time washing it and still have no desire whatsoever to mod it. In fact, I would love to sell it and live somewhere I don't need a car because I only want a weekend sports car and nothing more. I'd rather never have to drive.
I'll still take care of this car since I spend a lot of time in it...but it will soon cease to hog up so much of my attention.

Enlightening thread. I'm still at the "care" phase but I could see myself getting less interested as I age and my priorities shift. First car syndrome always seems to be the case - but when I take a deeper look at how modded the car is now and all the time/money spent on parts and installation - you sometimes do "wonder" if it was worth it. Nonetheless, I still enjoy driving it.

I have no problem going all out and doing a full detail once a year. Set aside 8 hours on a single saturday and knock it out and the car looks great for a majority of the year. Makes it easier to wash the car as well.

I used to do 2 full details(spring/fall), 1 semi-detail(mid-summer) and wash weekly. Wash in garage over the winter.

Now I'm 1 full detail and wash maybe monthly at best. Only use laser wash car washes in the winter.

I'll never completely not care but I definitely toned it down. If you're spending $25k+ on a car you should at least kinda care haha.

living in L.A. makes it hard to baby a car. When I lived in FL it was easy. But the roads here suck and everywhere you go has a steep approach and scrapes are sometimes inevitable. My car only has 4200 miles on it. Someone already tapped my back bumper with their front license plate and I already scraped the bottom of the front bumper [cant really see it] when i didnt angle the front enough pulling out of a mcdonalds.

i love my car and want it to look nice but i think its just too hard in L.A. As much as I love nice cars I don't think I would ever own anything over than $100k here. My next car is going to be something that can do it all: fast, good looking, carry shit, ground clearance. I'm thinking an X3/X5/Cayenne.
