cool mind reader thing if your bored

http://uk.akinator.com/#

just fill out some bogus information, think of somebody (real/fake/cartoon/sitcom/w.e), and answer the questions accordingly. i'm sure some of you have played something like this before but w/e, i just thought i'd share. this guy is realllyy accurate.

If you make him guess three times, you win. so far i've only stumped him with chamillionaire, john wall and a few others. seems like basketball players trip him up a bit.

post the random people he guessed, or those you stumped him with!

He's pretty accurate, but i was giving him easy ones. No way he gets some hard ones id give him.

He got Matt Damon though which surprised me, literally came out of nowhere and asked if this character played in Oceans 13

Aladdin
Kid Cudi (that was scary. the questions were so odd for this, shocking)
Natalie Portman
Chris Bangle (first guess was wrong)

EDIT: he got Bob Marley but I defeated him with Keb Mo

That's pretty good. He got:

Jules Winfield (Pulp Fiction) - that one surprised me.
Fernando Torres
Bill Cosby

Didn't get:
Devin The Dude
Shaun Murray (Pro Wakeboarder)
Dr. Gonzo (Fear and Loathing)

Wow this must read IP addresses or something...he got Patrick Kane from me...yet IMO asked no questions regarding anything other than played wintersports, not a goal keeper, and blonde hair. There are plenty of hockey players that fit that description.

Defeated him with Milton Friedman, which I thought may have been too hard but his third guess was Charles Martinet (voice for Mario on Nintendo) which IMO is more unknown...

Got me on Ditka...I guess he can take football to mean either soccer or American football

Read ip addresses, lol. It probably has a popularity heuristic built in. By this I mean persons selected frequently within a short period of time make their way up the candidate answer list more quickly. It probably had met its confidence threshold due to some similar heuristic.

It got Fred Couples for me somehow (which was who I was thinking of) after asking some vague ass questions.

LOL IDK how easy it is to check IP addresses...you do however

If I had Marian Hossa in mind (would've fit criteria) I wonder if he would've gotten it. I'm gonna try him now

FUCK! It got him on his second guess!

i fail to understand how reading ip addresses correlates to retrieving an answer out of your brain, say if you never spoke it nor typed it.
but nevertheless, i think that radix pretty much hit the nail on the head. it most likely collects information based on previous answers and sorts accordingly.
you can see that it even tells you the number of times the character has been selected and the date of the last selection - evidence that it at least collects some sort of data:

What I think BTM was suggesting is also possible, although less likely. I think he meant that the application uses a database that correlates IP blocks/addresses to geographical location, such as geobytes does. Given that BTM lives in and around Chicago, it might have chosen a Blackhawk, or at least assigned Chicago athletes a higher probability of being the correct candidate answer, because BTM's IP address would map to the Chicagoland area geographically. That of course would also assume that the database knew that Patrick Kane was a Blackhawk, and that the Blackhawks are a Chicago team.

All that said, I believe my previous theory was the correct one. Occam's razor and all that.
