I've got the ess vt2-625 kit and here's what I'm running.

front: 275/30/19 PSS with F14 19x9 +20
rear: 295/30/19 PSS with F14 19x11 +32

GC camber plates with lowered linear springs and EDC (comp package)
-3 front and -2 rear camber

I've got some 305/30/19 RS3's coming that I'll try in the rear soon but they should be no problem.

The car hooks up fine as long as you don't get on it hard until 2nd and your tires are warmed up. Make sure you have the recommended tire pressure for higher speeds. 42psi front, 45psi cold.

I had 10,5 x 20 on the rear with 295/25/20 and spun like a MF

Changed to 11x20 and 305/25/20 and was much better. Handling got sacrificed slightly on the move though

Define "pretty good".

On my 295 Sport Cups I'd see traction in some of 3rd gear. Forget 1st and 2nd. 285 AD08's weren't any better.

It's really a questions I've been asking myself (and others) a lot recently - what are the SC guys doing for traction? Sure, stepping up to 305s or 315s is ONE answer, but is it the ONLY answer (does it even work)?

It makes me chuckle reading the debates over which SC kit makes the MOST power, when the fact is; if it's not useable, it doesn't matter.


So my question: whats the solution for SC guys traction woes?

Smoothness with the right pedal works. You can't just jump on the throttle. Ease it in, let the rear suspension load up before going WOT.

Same with all high power to weight cars. I'm speaking from experience having had an ariel atom 2 300 and an ls6 miata

Fair enough... but that doesn't really answer the question.

Your solution is avoiding the problem, rather then solving it. People with supercharged M3s still want to drive WOT in 2nd and 3rd gear.

I assume the ESS guys are making the most power... so what are THEY doing to get it to the ground?

Without going to a drag radial there is no way around it. You see S/Cd M3s running low 11s but they are doing 130+mph in the 1/4 mile with at best a 2.1 60 ft. time. That tells me they aren't hooking up. A car that is trapping over 130+mph is or should be a low 10 sec. car with a 60 ft. time that should be in the 1.6-1.7 range. Also, the gearbox is very aggressive in its ratios as it was designed for a NA application. Really the M3 needs either taller gearing out back or switch up the tranny ratios to be less aggressive in 1-3rd gear.

Also, with the 19" rubber with that little sidewall you aren't going to get the bite you are looking for. Go see what Mustang GT500 guys are running and you will see 18" wheels with D/Rs that are in the 28" tall region while a M3 would probably like a 27" tall D/R.

The Toyo R888s are an awesome tire and can be driven on the street, just take care when they are cold as they need to be brought to temp. They are even more tempermental to temps than Mich PSCs.

I guess you didn't get my point. I DO go WOT in 2nd and 3rd in my ess-vt2-625. But I ease in the throttle. If I jump on it I'll slip all over the place. If you don't believe me I'll take a video to show you.

Thanks! I wish te37sl's came with the same offsets. The f14's are about the same weight as oem. I'd like them to be closer to 20lbs like the te37sl's.

Pretty good meaning if you heat up the rubber and know how to apply the power you can hook up without issue. No matter what tire you run outside of drag radials you can break traction with 600+ HP in this car pretty easy. Rubber is only a part of the solution the other is knowing how and when you can apply power.
