So I let my girlfriend sat in the driver's seat...

...the car was still cold, and she decided to step on the gas and revved the car to 6k - 7k RPM!!! I was so pissed and almost went off on her!!! But friends were around so I just smiled.

I know the car will protect itself and not let you rev the car to 8k when it's still cold, but I still don't think revving it to 6k - 7k when it is still cold is good. Anyone know if this will do permanent damage to the car or a couple times are fine?

/ dude....relax, I'm sure it's fine

Could you imagine if that's all it took to damage an $80k car meant to be thrashed around a track?

Doesn't it lock off at like 5K or something when cold? I don't know the exact RPM, or even if it actually locks off, since I've never tried revving at cold start....

It should, at cold start it should be locked at 5K RPM.

Guys, give him a bit of a break, he's just worried that his 150k+ USD car (I'm totally randomly guessing Taiwan prices), especially given the limited warranty and difficult-to-find support over there.

You are correct, revving to 6-7k while cold is bad for the car but it won't harm the car if it's on a very rare occasion. I would recommend no more than 4-4.5k initially.

And I you for the courage it must've taken you to let your girlfriend drive your car.

tell her she caused damage to the car and it'll never ride the same

and payment for fixing it will be that she needs to bring a couple of her sexy Asian friends over to make up for it by letting you take them for a ride instead.

You let her take your car around, now you take her friends around.

You definitely have the wong girlfriends

Mine lets most M drivers eat her Mini's dust on twisty roads. Not that she's be quicker than me, but I'd let her behind the wheel whenever she wants.

Car should be OK if you do not rev it that high being cold permanently.
