Had mine for about 9 months...zero issues but I did have the dealer install. When it gets very hot in the car (100+ degrees) and the wheel gets hot, the electronics don't work, but I figured out that this is a defense mechanism to prevent the electronics from frying (the display does give off heat when turned on). Once the interior temp cools down, works perfectly.

I love the wheel and the flatter bottom. Definitely provides better turning and control in my opinion. I definitely feel like you must wear gloves though to get the grip. I have a pair of golf rain gloves that are made out of cotton and they work like butter on toast with the wheel.
Had mine for several months now and it shows very little wear at all. Then again I'm that guy that wears gloves!! Hah not all the time. |

Hmm, haven't had issues with mine(yet anyway).
It gets used about every other day, maybe 3mos down now, no issues to speak of.

I'm sorry but who would be caught dead putting on gloves for their daily? I would rather buy a new wheel every few years for 500 bucks than roll around with gloves. Just buy a new wheel every few years if you can't keep it clean. With the regular wheel I keep a microfiber and ZAINO leather cleaner in my passenger seat. I wipe the wheel down atleast at the end of everyday and during the day if it gets sweaty or anything on it. Looks brand new 2.5 years later, matte and not shiny at all

I've had mine for about 18 months and it still looks great. It's my daily and the wheels gets plenty of use. The best cleaning method I've found is to wipe the wheel with leather cleaner or a mild soap. Then I use an electric toothbrush to fluff it..........Phil

Here is a pic of the setup in my car... I opted for the non electronic one to keep everything cleaner looking:
hpc3: Please do tell where you got that shift knob and boot. I'm in love. 100% doing that.

I've seen Mike's wheel in person, that thing looks brand new!
You are not suppose to use any chemical on the steering wheel, just water and a rag. |

I'm planning on buying a used E90 M3 and, unless it's already been installed, my first mod will be to put an an alcantara steering wheel. Whether it will be with a blue or yellow stripe I don't know yet...

I do this about every 3 months or so and it takes about 20 minutes. I try to do it when I know the car will be sitting for a day. Someone noted that chemicals should not be used, but if you spray the cleaner on a rag and wipe you'll be fine. Don't saturate the wheel with any liquid and be sure to use the toothbrush after cleaning.........Phil

Really considering to get the non-electric performance steering wheel tho,, since I don't want to worn out my original stock steering.. actually they are fine, but since I'm driving a manual.. sometimes hand movements from gearknob may damage and give a scratch on the steering.. well I believe there will be no problem for the alcantara steering?

I got one and love it. It is bit hard to keep clean but other then that feels real good. My car had a 335i with sport pkg steering wheel with paddle shifters for stock. So maybe that is why it felt like a huge improvement. Also, even if u have M3 sport steering wheel the square bottom shape is my favorite. All performance steering wheels should be square bottom real easy to rest your hand with good grip.

Love mine!
Haven't had to clean it yet but i've heard.... Use a soft bristle tooth brush with a vacuum cleaner nozzle 1" away.
