Driving M3 for a road trip

Guys, i will be driving my new M3 for a long road trip, over 1600+miles, i know the first service will be 1200 miles, what if i do it after 1200miles? is there gonna be any problems? and is it possible to do the service in another state which my car wasn't registered in?

Enjoy the trip in your new M3... you'll love it!
Thanks! I will sure take care of it, if i can do the service in a bmw dealership on the way, it could be a lot better and much easier.

I had my first one at 1450 miles because I was on the road.

it is better to do the service earlier rather than later, IMO. Is it possible for you to find a BMW dealership you will get to along the route of your road trip? that way you can schedule it in advance in the next 1000 miles and stop like a "pit stop". that'd be cool.

Thanks. How's the oil level after 1450 miles?

No problem. I think it's more about the metal shavings and grit than the oil level.

Your intelligent M3 will indicate need for service after 1200miles...am sure there is a dealership where you are headed, either way take it in once you get there. I have driven my car from Milwaukee to Kiawah Island/beach SC and covered more than 1200miles..was a blast, so have fun

Take some oil with you. After 300 miles on my car the oil has gone from 3/4 full to 1/2 full on the indicator. I purchased a 5 litre jug of German made Lubro Moly 10w60 just keep on standby in case I can't get to a dealer.

Maybe I'm the exception, but my oil indicator did not show any loss of oil by 1,200 miles. I can't rule out the oil indicator was faulty. After the 1,200 mile service I did see some loss and needed a top off.

Still, good advice on picking up some oil for the trip. Better safe than sorry.

Be sure to vary the RPM in the first 1200 miles. You don't want to get on the highway and keep it at 3,000 RPM for 1,000 miles.

I didn't do my service until I got the car back from Euro Delivery. The car had about 1450 on it when I got the service done.
