Flick has always been popular with both pro and amateur/hobby (such as myself) photographers. There is some SERIOUS talent on Flickr, for sure, and many photographers use it as a segue into promoting their websites and professional work. Lots of guys even offer prints and stuff. Something I'd like to do at some point, as well. Also Flickr was kind of the original photo sharing site that "made it" and got bought by Yahoo!. I am pretty sure it predates smugmug, 500px, definitely Instagram (which is more gimmicky than Flickr and only allows square photos), and whatever others are popular these days. They let you upload original files without compressing them (quality loss), and also when they do show smaller versions of your photos, which is automatically done for you, they are of good quality at their smaller size, again due to them not using a shitty compression method. Can't say the same for 500px, for example. This. Because how we all made it to the same place last time was more of a miracle than anything else. I know if I hadn't exchanged numbers with the guys in the M5, I would have ended up eating tacos in Homestead somewhere... Last edited by ddk632; 08-01-2014 at 12:23 PM.. |

Ok, well check out that place where you said you would and let us know how it is. When I was on my way back home from dinner that night, i loved the view with the buildings..A night shoot would be incredible, if weather permits this time. Depending on where the shoot ends up, we'll coordinate food. I think I'm going to make a flickr account, probably this evening. Will probably spend quite a bit of time transferring photos from photobucket to flickr. Hopefully it isn't too time consuming. You are so right about how we all ended up at the same place, let alone the same time! I was pulling in with nicebraces, and 2 other cars I believe, only to see 5 or so other cars pulling into the plaza from the other direction at the same time in the pouring rain.. Lmao. Couldn't have planned that one. |

I have a Flickr account, how do I add you up as a contact? The search option only lets me add my facebook contacts

Either way, in general, I do not do silly shit like adding sky from some other photo, making a pink sunset when it was actually a non-existent dud, or the like. I do basic white balance, exposure, shadows, lens correction, and similar on most of my photos. On a rare few I will do some tonal effects or overly warm white balance, once in a blue moon. I do occasionally make a composite of multiple photos into one, and explain as much in the description. Also I make panoramas out of multiple exposures, again describing how many shots, if it's a shift pano, etc. I'm pretty old school when it comes to photography, so if you see a shot with a tilt shift effect, it's because I used my TS lens; fisheye from my fisheye lens; and sunset shots where I use physical gradient filters that attach to the lens for the shot. Feel free to ask about any specific one and I can provide more detail. |
