Can anyone please ID this BMW? And advice.

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could ID this model? Thanks.

Also, does anyone have advice for someone interested in getting a BMW for a first time? Someone who has always owned "practical" cars (CR-V, Civic) and is now looking to get a BMW?

Thank you.

Post warranty work is more expensive compared to Hondas. I'm not sure what year that 528i is, but if you can try to get one within the 4 year/50,000 mile warranty window for free maintenance, you can ensure all the major work has been done before that window is expired to reduce the hit to your wallet.

Wink

you can have this model 5 series for as low as $10K

those would be the 2004 models 530i or 528i depending on the year...

if you have more to spend, you can have more recent one as late as 2010 550i for more than $45K....

So the range is wide as you can see...

just pick a car between 2004 and 2010
whichever models rocks your pants: 528i, 530i, 535i, 545i, 550i ...
the ones with warrante would be from 2009 onward...
you might have so luck with 2006 or later with warrantee, but much tough to dig out!

Good luck on finding for yourself the most reputable/valuable ultimate driving machine

Thanks to Postell, kyleb350, DrivenByE30, and aajami for answering. I really appreciate it.

Right now I hope to start out with a used 5-series for around $10-12K.

I'm a total newbie, but I'm researching and hoping to learn more. Where's a good place to check out the side-by-side differences between the 528i, 530i, 535i, 545i, 550i, etc.?

And let's say I purchased an older (2003 on) model that doesn't come with any warranties. Approximately how much more can I expect for maintenance than the practical cars I've had before (I know this probably varies widely, but ballpark figure).

Thanks!
