Leaf Blower?
Anyone use a leaf blower to dry off the car? I'm sure you'd still have to use towels, but does using a blower work/help?

The zaino site says to use only 100% cotton towel, not microfiber or anything with synthetic towels. What's your take on that?

People will recommend MF Waffle Weave drying towels as they as extremely absorbent and 2 of such towels are enough to dry an e92 or e90. However, I have since moved beyond running around the vehicle like a madman, dabbing and patting down the vehicle. I just bit my tongue and purchased a CR Spotless. Deionized filtered water and no water spots . Agreed! if anythign only use the blower for those crevices you know hold a small pocket of water. |

i use both the Cali Water Blade and a chamois to dry my car. i clean the water blade carefully before gliding it over the car surface. so far zero scratches. i would replace the chamois with a 100% cotten towel when the former is worn out. a chamois is not that absorbent.
many detailing enthusiasts use leaf blowers. i am thinking about getting a electric one JUST for drying my car. no fumes to gunk up my car!

Car drying
I really don't think a leaf blower will cause harm if there's not stuff blowing around in the air. I use a California water blade for the pre-dry. Detailer Paradise Purple waffle weave MF works well for me. Never been concerned about wiping vs. patting, but if you have a dark color paint, you might want to be conservative.

Leaf blower to dry car
I have a small electric leaf blower I use to dry my car and have not had any problems with scratches etc. It does take a little extra time compared with a towel, but I think it is worth it.

Why not just dry the car by driving it really really fast. Would be funny if you got pulled over and tried to tell the cop that you where not being reckless, but rather trying to dry the car
But in all seriousness, it does sound like a good idea. I however, will just take it to the car wash- I'm lazy |

I use a leaf blower to get the majority of the water off, then dry off with a single large cotton towel. Leaf blower comes in handy especially on that left hood vent where the water pools up. If you use the leaf blower to dry too much you leave water spots.

Zaino sweats the 100% high quality cotton towel (ie. Bed Bath and Beyond) drying over microfiber. He recommends "The Burn Test" on all towels before use. In this test you burn the towel to observe the quality of the flame. 100% Cotton burns clean. This is a great way to finally get your family and loved ones to admit you into a psychiatric institution.

BTW... the leaf blower method gets rid of the rust in the wheels after the wash.
