!!! TRACK DAYS & ROAD TRIPS 2013 - Toronto Area and Half Shell Memorial !!!

I wanted to get a head start in getting our track days together for 2013. Given all the uncertainty around Mosport's days and fees, we may need to do a bit more travelling this year to get our track days in. And hopefully we'll post things with a bit more notice, so that way certain unnamed individuals on this board won't have an excuse to back out

Calabogie will announce their days later this month, and most clubs are beginning to post their dates.

I've already signed up for both dates with Phoenix CMR at Watkins Glen (wanted to get the early bird rate and make sure I get a garage bay for both dates).

Both the Calabogie and the events we attend take beginners. Phoenix CMR, which runs the Glen days some of us attend have good instructors and have beginner, intermediate and advanced run groups. Calabogie has a similar setup (although certain days are experienced only and will be noted). As the days get posted in this thread, they'll usually note which days accept beginners.

If you have a lot of track experience, Calabogie offers a simple orientation which helps you get familiar with the track. Last year was my first at the Glen, and I went in the intermediate group with an instructor and was totally comfortable.

A friend of mine goes to the EA track days. They sound great. Aren't these track days fully serviced? Meaning doesn't EA change your tires if needed etc?

Looking forward to it - ordered a fresh set of tires for the season and the BBK goes on as soon as the winters come off plus some minor aerodynamic upgrades which will ofcourse add 4-6 seconds a lap minimum!

Definitely doing both Glenn days, should be in for most Calabogie days and will try for a few mosport days. Any plans for Tremblant?

He properly loves to do this on the track since it is "verboten" (not allowed on the Autobahn) Also I assume he has a lot more Autobahn high speed driving exposure then most of us

Gearhead999s How old is the Gentleman and what does he drive? I guess I've not meet him when I was at the track last year.

Definitely going to check out an EA day. Maybe we'll find out what happened to the Turbo!

Haven't talked about Tremblant, but there have been rumblings about trips to mid-Ohio and VIR this year. And what BBK did you go with? Dinan?

Nice - i've heard great things about both VIR and Mid Ohio; looks like I'll be putting a lot more mileage on the car this year....

Still deliberating on the BBK; got some very competitive pricing from a few US dealers; waiting on local dealer to see if they can come up with something close on price. Stoptechs would be the logical choice (easy pad change, cheaper, same performance as Dinan Brembos) - but there's that little voice in the back of my head that keeps saying the Dinan look better (i like the caliper look marginally better and rear rotors are 25mm bigger on the dinan, which has no impact but there's some aesthetic value...).

I was planning to do a VIR trip this year with my buddies from down south. If we finally get a date confirmed with a group, I'll post the dates, group and all the related info.

I learned that left or right doesn't matter. At some point the bolt is either gonna come out nice, or snap off! Either way, I blame the captain for this - he should know better than anyone that putting a tool in my hand is dangerous for everyone!
