Lightbulb Audi A4

Whats up guys and gals. Iv been lurking on here for a while now, but I just cant afford to get the 135i (the car I want). So I started looking at an A4. They are trying to blow them out cause its the end of the year 3.9%. I was looking at the 2.0T quatro Titanium pkg, S line and a few other goodies. I was going to get out the door with payments at about 540 a month. Anyway are these good cars? I know its no where near as fast as the 135i. Also how would the A4 compare to the GTI MKV.
Thanks for the help. And sorry for the noob German car questions Im a Honda guy:thumbup:

The 2008 Audi A4 quatro with Tit pkg and S line is MSRP of $34,275, so its not much less??? The average person is paying about $33k. The A4 weighs 3550# and has 200hp @ 5100 rpm, 207#tq@1800 rpm. So its not being to be fast by any means. I would think it would be about 7 seconds to 60 with a manual, just a guess. If you really want the 135i save for a little longer, the prices aren't that different.

I just noticed you said with some other options. I think Audi's are great cars, but I am sure BMW owners will disagree. Good luck. Save and get what you want, life is very short.

Audi will be blowing out the "B7" versions of the A4 straight through to September when the newly revised 2009 "B8" version of A4 will go on sale.

The B8 is going to be a significant revision, with completely new transaxle/transmission configuration that will put the engine 6 inches further back behind the front axle. Weight distribution (especially on the 2.0T) will be much better, and so will handling. The 2.0T also has a redesigned engine, and with a 50ft-lb boost in torque. It should perform quite well compared to the 328xi/328i that it is targeted to compete against.

The current A4's aren't bad, but the expectations for the new A4 are pretty high. So prices of the current A4 will probably trend lower as more Audi enthusiasts wait out the arrival of the new re-design.

I have two A4, but I would not buy one now knowing that the new model is coming in a couple of months. It is totally redesigned and it has been on sale in Europe already for a year.

I'm trading one A4 for a 128, and in the future I'll replace the other A4 with another A4 of the new design.

I love the way I take curves in the A4 when I downshift and turn using a small radius due to quattro, steering also with the accelerator, while other guys drift wide in a larger radius, waisting motion. When they get out of the turns I' m already farther down on the straightaway.

WOW, I just checked out the 09 A4, SWEET. Its a 4 door A5 coupe. HMM, if they could just make it a little faster, like 5.5 to 60 I would check it out.

When I am ready to buy in Feb 09 my list will be much bigger.

135i
Audi A5 Quatro
Audi A4 Quatro
Acura TL SH-AWD
What else will come to mind ???

Some tuning on the new A4 2.0T might get you below 6 seconds, but it would be REAL tough to get it to run with the 135i.

Depending upon how much power you require, how much money you have to spend, what transmission you desire, how many doors you need, and if you would rather have AWD over RWD, here is a list to consider in 2009:

Audi A3 Quattro
Hyundai Genesis RWD coupe or sedan
Mitsubishi Ralliart or Evo
Subaru WRX, or WRX STi
BMW 335xi/328xi coupe or sedan
VW R32 4Motion
VW Passat 4Motion (This is basically a stretched B7 A4)
Volvo has a number of AWD cars, some with turbos.
Infinity G35x, G37

Well, I don't want to spend more then $42k after discount, and want a quick car, AWD or RWD. I really want the power of the 135i manual. But very nervous about problems with it. I was also kind of cramped in it. I will def. get a manual. I looked at A5 prices and I could get an A5 with the S-Line pkg and manual in my price range.
I looked at the STI, EVO, G37S and only really like the G37S. I am not into hatchbacks. I don't want a Volvo, no way. Hyundai no way. The 328xi is lacking in power, and the 335xi is out of my budget. VW's are too young looking.

I have an A4. It's a great driving car, S-line package has a really tight, sporty suspension. You will not be disappointed with that car. I've been very happy with mine.

I'll be putting up my '02 A4 if you are really looking to save some coin . Other than the grill and a 170hp turbo versus the newer 200hp turbo, it's the same car. Probably ask around 13.5k.
