e92 3 series coupe. will you miss it's 5 seater practicality?

The new e92 3 series coupe will be the first 3 series coupe with a 2+2 seating configuration. It loses its 5 seater practicality that has been a trademark of the 3 series coupe. Sure, one may argue that the 3 series coupe sacrifices practicality for style and sportiness. My previous e36 325i coupe in UK was a reliable practical vehicle that allowed me to ferry 2 kids and a nanny comfortably in the rear for long journeys. Perhaps. the new BMW 3 series coupe has lost touch with its practical roots that has endured for generations.

Distancing from sedan. 3 kids, so the E90 or E91 is the obvious choice for me.

The 3 series coupe is the most sporty 3 series in the range that embodies all its core values. i have 4 kids and thankfully 2 vehicles. would have preferred a 3 series coupe and a mpv.

The middle seats were always a joke in the coupes anyway. It is far more comfy and looks better to have bucket seats with a center console (like the G35 coupe). Hopefully there is some decent head room as the E36/E46 coupes with their lower roofline doesn't work well with me when in the driver seat, same goes for the G35 coupe.

the new is250 sedan professes to be a 5 seater when it is actually a 2+2. the centre seat on is250 is simply too hard for long journeys. I have sat in the rear centre seat in a e36 and e46 coupe and it is much more comfortable than a lexus IS250.

The new IS claims to be a 5 seater when in actuality, it's a coupe with large compartments in the back.

I agree totally with wyrm11. Lexus IS250 should stop pretending to be a sedan. will look much better with 2 doors

when i look at the e92 coupe, now i subconsciously associate the car with the new Mazda RX8. never use to feel that way before.

I would have gotten the coupe if it were out when i got my e90. I aready have 2 doors too many. I've had my car for 8 months now, and have only once had a person in the back seat. I couldn't wait another year for a car.

hi windnsea00. thanks for the translation. must be american colloquial speech.

i had the dubious honour of seating in the rear centre seat in the e36 when i was my babysitting my 2 kids in the rear and the front pasenger seat was packed with stuff during a moving house ordeal. sat in a rear e46 coupe centre seat in the showroom once.

I will not miss it. The middle seat was worthless in the old ci.

I agree, the middle seat is worthless anyway. I would never let someone even sit there in the sedan. That said I do wish they did not place a center console there. I still like the cushion space. It makes the car more comfortable and it says to everyone "yes, I am built for 5, but really only 4 are allowed".

Not sure if this was mentioned cause I usually stay out of the coupe discussions.
I think its horrible how both the driver and passenger have to get out to let rear passengers out the car since the center is blocked.

The center seat in my E46 330Ci is hardly used and when it is, its a TIGHT squeeze with the persons legs on either side of the floor divider. I'm seriously SO happy that the E92 is a 2+2...

wow. looks like my sentiments belong to a minority group. perhaps, if i were a single bachelor or a DINK- double income, no kids- the centre middle seat would make no difference at all. Regardless, i just like the 5 seat flexibility rather than an obligatory 4 seater capacity. anyway coupe owners usually have more than 1 vehicle.

Hi Climkt, do you know when 335 coupe is hitting the showroom in Singapore? Or will it only be available per order only?

hey, i'm thinking about switching to Z4 coupe so that would be going from 5 to 2 for me.

in any way, the only thing i will miss is the extra "storage space" as i often throw big items that don't fit in the trunk on the back seat. plus, E90's backseats offer a lot more room to make my lady pleasure-scream, so that will be a huge sacrifice for me.

I don't expect to use the 5th seat in my 330i but I like the idea that I can cary 5 if I need to. For a coupe though, it's already lost some of it's practicality so I don't really think it's that much of a loss to make it a 2+2.

Sorry. There ain't nothing to be missed for something coupe lovers never had. How many times we need to remind ourselves, E90 -> 4-door sedan, E92 - 2-door coupe ; there are no longer the same model like the E36, E46 old days.
E92 coupe is designed exclusively for those who don't want 5 seats, who don't want 4 doors and those who can afford a little bit more for unique styling.

Well, if you're on schedule, by now you've married the nanny and have no need for a 5 seater.
