That is a spectacularly horrifying photo. I'm curious as to what it is. This blob of "stuff" definitely needs to be analyzed.

UPDATE:

Called dealer 5 minutes ago...

Once they had the seat off of the mounts my service manager said that it looked like a potato...

I went grocery shopping about a month ago and bought red potatoes and the bag broke open... guess one rolled way far under the seat and I didn't see it.

That's what a crushed potato will do after 1 month and constant 90 degree heat... YUCK

Usually you can leave potatoes for a long time even in room temp. All they do is shrivel up and dry, not rot.

I had a bag of potatoes in my garage with just a few left in the bag. 6 months in the garage heat in so cal. They were about half the size, just shriveled up. No odor or rotten smell.

Same thing happened to my buddy. Except it was a 2009 Jaguar (or maybe a '69 Cougar?). And he came home to find new born vipers living in there. And instead of giving them away, when he got in, they killed him. And ate him. And left his remains under the seat. And man, it stunk!

hahahhahha!! YESSS!!! I had a bag of potatoes laying hidden in a cabinet once for months so I know exactly the smell you had. I thought it was our litter box, fish bowl, sink drain... or (ex)wife... before we finally found it.

I can say from experience that this smell is TURR'IBLE!! Glad you investigated before you went accusing the shipping, which is probably what I would have done . Good luck with the cleaning!

potatoes often sprout when left in dark warm areas... then decay.

makes sense. it does kind of look like an old baked potato. its unfortunate that you found it so late, otherwise a lot of the damage could have been avoided.

Yeah, but this one got ripped open by the seat, probably. With the skin in tact, yeah, I could see it mainly just drying up. Also, depends on what bacteria gets to it. Kinda like the difference between a rotten apple and a dried apple snack.
