From my rep at BMW-M in Germany:
With regards to your question, the answer is based on a design decision mainly, since the guerney (spoiler) is not needed, technically, on a Convertible which is quite heavier than a coupe. Our designers did not approve this feature because it does not really look good either when the top is down.
