BMW Press Release: 77th Int'l Motor Show Geneva 2007
No mention of the M3 at Geneva from BMW Press Release. Are they keeping secrets, or are all of us dreaming and hoping, including Car & Driver.

The question is: Where's the M3 in the press release?
The answer: "These high standards are highlighted by the presentation of a spectacular concept study whose appearance makes a definitive statement about peak performance and fascinating aesthetics." Best regards, south |

we were fairly sure that BMW would release a statement like this rather than saying 'the M3 will be there'. All adds to the tension |

"These high standards
are highlighted by the presentation of a spectacular concept study whose appearance makes a definitive statement about peak performance and fascinating aesthetics." Might be just a "presentation" and not the actual car ... a running video or maybe they jus gonna be more vague about the car ... i personally feel if the M3 was gonna be there there would have mentioned ... M3 concept or something... and not be vague bout it ... think about it good for the show as well if they just mentioned it ... i hope it is there, but that press release is a bit sad

E-mail from EVO magazine says.... The cars you're not allowed to see until then are the new BMW M3 and the Bentley Brooklands, both of which are to be unveiled at this year's Geneva show. BMW even specified the time at which you are allowed to see the new M3 (it's 18:30 GMT to be exact), but that's taking this embargo nonsense a little too far in my view, as this is well after the time the car will be revealed to the press at the show. interestingly they go on to say.... I blame the internet for all the nervousness that surrounds new car reveals today. In the old days we used to do a photo shoot, design the feature, send the whole lot off to the printer and, finally, bundle the mags up ready for distribution. The whole process took around two weeks. But with the advent of digital photography and the appearance of hundreds of voracious car websites around the world, a carefully crafted car reveal can be wrecked by a couple of clicks on a computer. The industry has responded by burrowing deeper underground and releasing less and less information to the media on the run-up to a new model.

Over the past twelve months I have put up with constant broken embargos when initial surprise launches have been torpedoed.
With the M3 BMW want to bring back the mystique and surprise you only got at a motorshow launch. whilst the internet has taken the lead to become the major communication tool overtaking the human form of communication. BMW want to showcase a vehicle to the media and public which has not been previewed. when you see the Audi A5 , Mercedes C-Klasse etc you already know what it looks like because of pictures that have been released all you will see will be the reality of the car from the picture. Maximum exposure is almost guaranteed when you don't present something and let the media guess " what are they going to reveal?" Debate always means maximum publicity. |

If I don't see it I will cry out loud, like I did after the Paris show, but louder.

[QUOTE] Well as you would expect, I have been working with EVO putting together a few factoids ready for a launch article covering Geneva. We do not know for sure that it will be there, but like most magazines it has been given proper attention. I can't tell you more than that, however there is an interesting angle to the story that will be worth reading (and that very little interweb chatter has focused on thus far). |
