Question Gruppe M intake, worth it?

i'm toying around with the idea of getting the Carbon Fiber Gruppe M intake for the M3, do you guys think it's worth it? and how much HP gain would i gain? and last, would it make the M3 sound better/louder?

https://www.gruppem.co.jp/onlinestor...roducts_id=535

please discuss,

thanks!

The Gruppe M looks really cool and I'm sure is lighter given the CF construction. But, the stock induction system flows pretty good with the three intake points. I wonder if when we start seeing replacement high flow filters (vs w/charcoal layer) if it turns out the stock box is not a limiting factor.

No not worth it. You're paying a lot for the CF.

Last year, I was toying around with the idea of CAI. I stumbled upon an article that was written. This article acquired 3 or 4 CAI and one of them was Gruppe M. As it turned out, the Gruppe M has a better performance gain vs. the competition. But, it was something in the neighborhood of 3 hp more than the others. If you asked me, is it worth the price? I don't think so. 3 hp is 3 hp, but in terms of daily driver car it is not. On the race track, it is entirely different story. How often you are going to flash your hood up while driving and tell me "hey, i have Gruppe M"???

Actually the GruppeM intake caters to the idea of the M3, you know it's high performance & good quality, but from the outside it's the same overall shape as the standard car.

Use the money for something else. BMW knows how to design an airbox better than an aftermarket company

$3k for intakes?!?! O_O waaaaaaa.....

I understand that this are M cars...but jacking up the prices of basic things like intakes to 3k....man...that's just taking advantage....

It's like the freaking exhausts from Tubi for the lambos are like 10k+....just because they have lambos...

Isn't the stock M3 intake similar to that of the Gruppe-M intake? I heard it's design and structure is almost the same as the stock one, the only difference is that its made out of CF? I'm also thinking if I should get one for my M3, I just don't know how significant the mod would be.

Make sure right after you get one of these you dump $7k+ on a BBK. Possible the worst $10k you can spend on your M3. :

I don't think a BBK would be a waste of money. The Gruppe M though, is a glorified stock airbox which is not a knock on Gruppe M but the stock airbox is just that good.

It is a beautiful intake but not worth it at all. The ASR intake scoops will come out soon and they will give you just as large if not larger gains for ~350 dollars. No brainer, IMO.

3k? An exhaust would feel like a better buy.

Heres a post I made inquiring on ASR Intakes, which is also going into production shortly, but these little air scoops are gonna be incredible, (especially for the $$)

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...&highlight=asr

Gruppe M is SOOOOOOOOO not worth it, your basically buying your exact intake but in CF? there are no gains with the Gruppe M Intake, there is simply a loss in your finances the month you purchase it (a rather large loss - 3 g's almost).

ASR says they will make an actual cold air intake that is nothing like the stock intake, they made one for the E60 M5 and it showed about 30 hp I believe!

ASR FTW!!!!!

The intake looks good but for 3k i'm out. I spent 500 on a custom CAI and I was pissed off because of the price :
