high RPM coasting?
Just a general question im curious to know about...i dont know much about mechanics or how an engine works but if u hold the car at a higher RPM, BUT DONT, step on the gas, say, if u going downhill coasting or something, does it burn fuel just as if you were stepping on the gas?
common sense tells me more rpm = more gas...but if u dont put on the accelerator, wouldnt it just be the same as taking your foot off the gas in any gear? be it 1,2 or 5 6? thx |

Throttle position has alot to do with injector %.. So no throttle means very little fuel but rpm does also change it a little, so you will use more gas at higher rpm with same throttle position.. Using the gears to slow the car is fine/correct.

I believe zero throttle = zero fuel if above something like 1200 rpm.

Like when you downshift into second gear, engine screaming as you come to a stop with no throtttle?
