Will the new F30 BMW 335i be a e9x M3 killer?

There has been so much comparison between the current generation 335i vs M3, with some publications recommending the cheaper 335i due to the turbo engine's everyday flexibility.

I wonder how will the new F30 335i fare in comparison with the current generation M3. Its not uncommon for the BMW to up the performance of the regular models in the new series.

Its like comparing the E46 M3 versus the E9x 335i.

What do you guys think?

Performance wise the e46 m3 still poops on the 335i. Same should hold true for the f30 335i vs e9x m3.

BMW wouldn't make a 3series a better drivers car than an M. Although they do come closer each generation.

It still not an ///M car. It nice and definitely has great power but not the same thing as owning an ///M. If people get offended , I am sorry.

Rumor has it that the F30 gets a fuel pump that actually works.

I was reading the latest issue of Bimmer today. BMW's head of engine development for non M cars stated in an article that there will be new three and six-cylinder engines coming in the next 3 years based off of the new N20 four cylinder that is slated to debut in the X1 later on in the year. It is possible that their will be a new six-cylinder engine debuting in the F30 either upon its introduction or slightly there-after.

There wont be a performance package. Think of the 335is has a special edition that was just made to boost sales in the final end of the model cycle. Remember the 330i ZHP? Same idea.

BMW will do what BMWLVR mentioned. If history repeats itself then the F30 will debut with the n55 335i then a year or two model years later it will switch to a different engine. Rumor said to be called a 340i. My guess it will be just 1 model year later when they switch engines. Like they did on the 325/330 E90.

Then again the N20 will most likely be in the F30 right away...

Doubt it. Since the new m3 gets a minor bump in hp, I would expect the same for the 335. So I don't think a minor hp and torque bump on the f30 335 will result in the 335 eating the m3.

335i cant beat the m3 for some reasons. It's a daily, not designed for track use.

With F3x 335, I would guess it might be on par with the current M3 in a straight line, but fail at the track. However, when the F3x M3 comes out, I would assume that it will be a different story due to the turbocharging of the F3x M3.

if m3 is going to be turbocharged, i believe that some mods on the f3x 335i can make it beat the m3.

You don't think the M3 will respond to mods as well as the 335 will? I'm talking F3x 335 to F3x M3.

Totally disagree mate ! No non M is better than any M. The end. Faster, newer etc etc etc but "better" - NEVER !!

M3 will eat the 335 for breakfast and throw the leftovers to the dog for lunch. 335 is just so cheesy and unstable and so "common". An M is an M, thats always a level above regular series, an M3 on the other hand is "the" M, thats a level above all other M cars and always leads them.

Oh and I don't think anyone here gives a shit about the 335, sorry. Maybe you should take your case to the 3series forum.
