2008 M3 pricing question (still on lot after almost two years!)

There is a sweeeeeeeeeeeet M3 fuuuullly loaded on my local dealerships lot...

it's been there for a long time (I remember going to look at the new 1 series and the salesperson tried to talk me into getting it because I could get like 8k off)

I was just curious, if this car stays there longer, how much would they come off the price? or what happens to a car that they can't sell? Is there a rock bottom price no matter how long it sits there that they will never go below?

I'd love to have the car, but only if it came down a little more, I mean it's already an 08, but man is it sweeeeeet...

I think the tag is 66,000 dollars...

50k seems to be the rock bottom. Tell them you'll pay 50k right now and see what they say.

Most dealers use borrowed money to purchase their inventory. That borrowed money comes with interest costs. The longer they keep the car, the smaller their profit margin gets.

There's just over $4,000 markup when looking at invoice vs. MSRP on the base car with no other options. Combine this difference with the $7,500 rebate, and this will usually be the starting point for the dealer off of MSRP. My dealer's first offer was just over $56,000 with an MSRP of $69745. I said I'll buy it now for $49,900, and I signed the intent to purchase. Unless you're sitting there telling them you'll leave with the car, you're not going to get much better than their initial offer. It helped me a LOT that I had just done a buy it now on eBay for the exact same car, and they sold it out from under me! The buy it now was for $49,900, so I signed into my eBay account at the dealer to show them that I won the auction. I had also worked with them in the past, and they appreciated me trying to do business locally.

My deal was a rare one, but low $50's could be had pretty easily. With so many people knowing about the deals on the '08's, it won't be too much longer before they're gone. My local dealer has a silver/fox red 6MT sedan left if you're interested. It was a launch car, and it stickers for just over $66,700.
