Intake Question

Does anyone else beside Dinan make an intake that still uses the stock airbox? Not a fan of the aFe intake.

Something like this minus Dinan's rediculous price.

two points:

1. highly doubt it's gonna help you gain any performance

2. cosmetically, the carbon will start bubbling / peeling / deforming once the engine gets hot. I had a similar setup in my E55 AMG and the CF pieces all bubbled out / changed color.

1. It looks bad anyway
2. It's going to be just like the E46, cooling and performance of the stock airbox cannot be beat unless a drop in filter is added, no need to do anymore than that

Hey, I'm just answering a question. You won't see that (or the Dinan) on my car .

Yeah i'm not a fan of the quality, i like the one dinan put out but not for $850 and no real gains. I remember someone put one out for the e46 but it wasn't made of carbon fiber. A couple of my buddies have it on their e46's with no complaints. Oh well.

What does the inside of that aFe intake look like. That looks similar to the stage 1 e46 model
Was great until heat soak got it, crap. It seems exposed from sides and under, and last time I checked aluminum absorbed heat and there is no heat shield.

people think that dinan one is overpriced. yeah it is expensive but i have yet to see a CF one for less and a better looking one. at least there gains are believable and were dynoed. both that agency one and the afe one for more money then the dinan are ugly as sin. plus i doubt that afe gets 12hp.

from all the intakes i looked if you want a good quality one your gonna spend over $500. if you don't want to spend that then just put a filter in and get similar results
