My New Track Toy

Despite being a pretty novice driver, the track bug has really bitten me.

In 2010 I sold my E46 M3 and upgraded to an E92 M3. A few months after that I went to my first track event and immediately knew that I wanted to do this a lot more and also why the F*$% did I sell my E46?

I was only able to go to a few events last year, but I am hoping to do as many as the wife will allow me in 2012. As part of my investment in tracking, I started looking for a cheapish E46 M3 that I would be less nervous about learning and making mistakes in. I came across a pretty nice deal on one located in Chicago with only 26k miles and that had been set up to track.

I apologize for the quality of the pictures and the filthiness of the car as I took these at the end of my 1200 mile drive with my crappy BB Torch.

First Pic is looking in from trunk.

Second pic is where I am thinking the washer fluid reservoir went - this car has been really stripped down. See 5th pic.

Third pic is the car after 1200 mile drive.

Fourth pic - seats

Fifth pic is all the stuff that had been stripped out. It probably weighs > 100lbs. I was able to load the two front seats in the front but it was tight.

I don't see how I would be able to transport tires if I ever get good enough to track on compounds, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

I have to figure out how to clear the airbag code. I think it is related to passenger side occupancy sensor, but all of the seat connectors are out of sight at this point.

Nice find! Looks like a pretty well put together (and taken apart) car. I can see the wheels turning in Disapr's head...

Glad I didn't sell my E46.

Planning on it. I am replacing rotors and pads all the way around.

All the jack pads were missing and stealership only had 2. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up the other 2 Friday and parts arrive then so I can get it all prepped.

I bought some PSS for my old track wheels. I hope they'll fit.

I have to scratch this itch, last time I saw any type of track time was last year in shifter karts in June

So far I can't complain about the winter or so far lack thereof... The days are already getting longer

Where did you find the car? Also, it looks like it has a 1/2 cage,as I don't see any door bars... is that correct?
