Just installed Magnaflow Exhaust on E90

Here's a few pics and a couple of sound clips. One outside and inside. The shop that I took it to did an amazing job. You'll see in the pics that they custom welded a stablizer piece to "join" the exhaust.

Anyway, the sound is awesome. Can't beat it for the $$.

Thats awesome buddy.

Cant be that when you take into account the cost. Looks really really good. I thought I read in another thread that this setup muffler doesnt work with the coupe because of the bumper clearance?! Or are these diff mufflers?

These mufflers work in both coupe and sedan form. It all depends on the shop and their fabrication/customization skills.

Same mufflers. 14816. However, the bumper DOES NOT need to be cut to install these. My installer was confused as to why someone would need to do that. My installer just made adjustment with the mid-pipes. No need to shave, cut, grind the bumper.

They don't... let's clear that out before this gets spread out and installations get messed up.

The issue is the total length of the muffler body and tips relative to the Coupe bumper, which it is longer than the Sedan by a couple of inches. So your particular Sedan installation is fine with the 14816 mufflers because the muffler body can be adjusted by the OEM pipes to extend the tips just right over the Sedan's bumper cut outs without touching the bumper itself. In the Coupe case, the tips are too short over the muffler body to allow any extension of the tips beyond the bumper cut outs to make them fit right because the muffler body touches the bumper. So in that particular case the bumper was cut to place the tips farther out.

Nice installation, by the way.

I was able to sit in this car and compare it to my Eisenmann Race. It is not quite as loud but it has a great sound. I did not hear any droning compared to mine. This is definitely a great exhaust and for the money it is in a league of its own.

And something tells me that your tips are kind of tucked in slightly more than OEM... there's no way around it. Again, it is a matter of what you want in looks, not in installation.

If that looks good to you, great. But that's something that have to be said for others thinking about the same mod.

Nah, just the angle of the pic. The tips are from factory and wasn't custom welded on. It's aligned perfectly.

I asked my installer to have the tips protrude no more than 1/2" so it's similar to OEM.

Thats very true, I apologize for not mentioning that before but its just that its not tucked in that much at all. Or at least it doesn't bother me but I think that one would be able to just extend the tips a bit if they don't like it

Thanks... there is nothing more upsetting -at least to me- than to see some great mod done in a forum and when I try to replicate it in real life there are some important "details" not stated in the forum that totally changes either the "look", price, performance or the effort to get it done.

At least we know for sure that the Magnaflow 14816 mufflers are the perfect model for the Sedan, thanks to E90mdrei.

I agree 100%. Due to the fact that the Magnaflow install isn't as common on the E9x M3s, it took some time to research here, and then talk to several installer. They all said different things and the key is to keep coming to these forums and get REAL life accounts on how the install of any mods should go. and one of the members that I talked to before the install was Technic so I thank you.

Exactly. I hope the issues I encountered that we discussed in my thread have helped others to get their custom Magnaflow setups properly installed.
