i've experimented around a bit. i like 13 13 for all street situation. going stiffer makes the car more responsive and roll less, but too stiff also reduces traction and grip, i find. on the other hand, going softer than 15 makes the car too wobbly and soft. what are your settings?

I just had mine installed, hence asking for settings suggestions.

Currently running 12/12 for street which I find is one level firmer than stock and still comfortable with good body control. I'll be sticking with this for daily use.

Haven't had a chance to set it up for spirited or track driving yet.

Truthfully, not really. Although it doesn't snow in Hong Kong, our roads are pretty crappy for what it is.

Too many trucks using our roads. They're not bad, but I wouldn't say they're great.

8/8 for spirited driving, wouldn't mind driving it like this daily. Super comfortable set of coilovers.

That dual flow valve technology is a wonderful thing! Ohlins FTW.

I have seen a few posts where some members replaced this system with more track oriented coilovers like JRZ Pro, MCS, KW clubsports, ect..
Personally, I track my car with Ohlins R&T and really like it.
Car feels great on the track, huge improvement from stock.
Is it as good as above mentioned systems?
Maybe, I will be able to tell only if I drive the same car with different coilovers and compare the data.
As of now, I have no plans to remove something that has worked for me well.
Just on the side note, I have run against other similarly prepped/same tires e9x m3s but with so called more track oriented coilovers in the advanced/instructor run groups and I am as fast or faster.

There's a lot of nonsense out there about stiff springs making cars faster. With aero and low ride height targets, I suppose it starts to be true, but there's no reason a setup like this, which remember still more than doubles the stock front spring rate, can't be just as fast on track as something much fancier and stiffer on a 200tw street tire without real downforce on the car. On street tires good damping and springs that allow the suspension to move, but keep it in its geometry happy place, are all you really need.

One caveat being that as soon as you start dropping the car down really low, I doubt the R&T has enough front spring to keep the car out of the bumpstops and/or keep it from whacking fenders, so a higher rate front setup might have some advantages for getting the car low, but who wants to be that low on the street anyway

I forgot to mention that I also have front Dinan sway bar installed on mid settings that seems to keep front of the car from too much body roll and feels almost perfect to me.

It's because the more advanced true 2 / 3 -ways require advanced knowledge of suspension tuning to get the dampening / rebound (multiple speed settings) right. This may lead to further complication when taking into account the differences from track to track needing adjusting for each.

Those more advanced settings are FAR from set it and forget it. So many of the cars you have run against probably are not tuned right for the track you are on. Few people can take advantage/ know how to take advantage of the more advanced setups, but they have been sold it makes them faster. Kinda of like people upgrading the power when none of them can run the ring or any U.S. Track even CLOSE to the track's best times set in a STOCK M3.

Cheers,

Bump adjustment on 2-ways is not rocket science and is mostly set-and-forget if you're running the same setup and track often. Having access to bump adjustment is a huge help for trackside tuning, and it's not as hard as people make it out to be, you're usually moving 1 or two clicks from your baseline if that to account for changed tire/surface conditions

But I agree for most people just a rebound knob (or no knob, what the hell is wrong with tire pressure?) is enough to get them through 95% of tuning situations, and makes life less stressful

The top-down parts high-end availability for this platform is one of the most annoying things about it. Want a piece of bent tube with two flat plates welded to it? THAT'LL BE $450.

Street/Spirited/Track= 5F/10R

I pulled these settings off of Ohlins project car article they posted on their website.

TBH, Haven't tried any other settings but these settings feel fine and The car feels a lot more planted, closer feel to my F82 which is a lot to say

Makes sense, softer suspension (allow the car to squat in the drive wheels) like "fatter tires" contribute to better traction on cars acceleration.

But the prevailing mentality for most Ohlins users is equal (or nearly) settings F/R. Even the Ohlins installation guide recommends that. I'm confused.
