Replaced My U.S. (Gloss Black) Mirrors w/ Euro (Matte Black) Side Mirrors

I always liked the matte black side mirrors that came on the E93 M3 in the US and the E9* M3 lineup in Europe. I felt the gloss black housings that came on the American E92 M3 picked up water spots and scratches too easily, so I went ahead and ordered the left and right European housings from ecstuning.com: part numbers 51168041911 and 51168041912. Together they cost a little more than $600, but I sold my old gloss black housings to an E90Post member for $450, so I'm not losing too much. I've also made a DIY as I know quite a few of you are interested in this mod:

For those wondering, the CF 1x1 mirror caps are from EAS.

Wow. That looks great. Not bad at all for a $150 investment.

Looks good. Subtle, but makes a difference...especially if all the other stuff is matte black already.

Looks great!

I'm thinking of replacing my mirror covers. Could you tell me why you chose the CF 1x1 mirror caps from EAS instead of the others out there? Thanks.

EAS has the best quality CF products out there for fit and finish. OEM with CF overlays as opposed to cheap ABS plastic molds

The EAS CF mirror caps have the best weave quality and finish of any of the CF mirror caps I've seen so far, and I've seen them from 3 different manufacturers.

Special order from Germany, so took about two weeks.

It looks fine with the gloss trim but I prefer making everything matte black. You can order the OEM matte black trim from ecstuning.com. In the following link, you would need parts 1, 2, 3, and 4. I'm not doing this and instead I'm having EAS wrap my trim in matte black vinyl.

I like the gloss better. Matches window trim.

I'm in the process of buying CF mirror caps too. Am I understanding correctly that the EAS mirror caps are actually BMW OEM caps (that would normally come painted on the car) with CF overlays?

How do the EAS mirror caps compare to the BMW Competition Package mirror caps (http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=4462)? I've heard that these BMW CF mirror caps don't match the weave of the CF roof. Is that true? Are the EAS mirror caps a better match?

The ones we have are indeed OEM BMW Mirror Caps overlayed with Carbon Fibre in 1x1 weave, which matches the roof weave. It looks like the BMW Competition Package mirrors are 2x2 weave from the link you posted, and from what I recall.

Eclipsis, do you have any pics of say 5 ft away from the car to see how it looks on the car just not right up on it?
