I must decide today - 18" or 19"

what wheels to order for my M3 Vert (SS/BL), and I can't make up my mind! The car is going to start production in the next few days (or even today?!), and I have ordered 18" wheels for better ride quality, but I prefer the way the 19's look.

I just keep going back and forth on this; I wish I knew how the ride compared between the two wheels (I live in Los Angeles, where I would say the roads are not great, but not horrible). I actually do not mind the looks of the 18" wheel's size or shape, but I do not like the finish on the wheel.

Any guidance on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Wheels make a car. It looks WAYYYYY better with 19's. Get the 19's or you will regret it.

Go for the 19s. You could always change the Drivelogic setting for a better ride??

I ordered mine with the 18s. My plan is to put aftermarket 19s on sometime later.

I can always use the stock 18s for my snow tires. I guess with you being in LA, snow tires probably aren't an issue.

go with 19's unless you track your car... for daily use 19 is better. haha

anyways get the wheels you really really like so you wont regret it in the future...

Im currently using 19 with no issue also in LA county and OC area so i know where and not to drive

with 19's compare to 18's ride quality is not so much noticeable just set your setting to comfort you should be ok.

I would stick with the 18" wheels. You can always sell them and get some aftermarkets for less than the cost of the 19".

I prefer the old 18's color in graphite to the 19's. But I prefer the 19's to the current 18's silver finish.

I had the same problem. I kept going back and forth between them. I definitely like the look of the 19's way more than the 18s. Also, after they changed the color of the 18s from gunmetal to metallic/silverish, 19s are clearly the better looking choice. As far as the ride goes, I've heard from many that there isn't that much of a difference between the two, but obviously, be careful of potholes!
19s! Do it!

The ride quality is about the same IMO, especially if you get EDC. I love my 18s but wouldn't consider them in the new silver color, I think they now look cheap. Go with the 19s. If you hate them, it will be easier to sell them and you can always pick up 18s (and in the better gunmetal finish.)

+1. the difference in ride quality is minimal. I have gone back and forth between 18" and 19" wheels (both with PS2's) and the difference is inconsequential. get the wheels you like.

Get lightweight aftermarket wheels. That will make a real difference for you. Better ride quality, better handling, faster... all the time. A good set of lightweight wheels has to be the best mod for the money performance wise imo.

If you have EDC then ride quality can be changed with a push of a button. Don’t make this the backbone of your decision, just pick what you think LOOKS better.

Really? the 19s option is about 1200 or so right?

What 19in wheels can you get for 1200 with tires?

220M wheels sell for over 1200 used

My bad. I was thinking it was 2,000 but it is 1250. Going rate for brand new 18" set is around 2,000. 3200 is not going to get you much for aftermarket wheels.

I think the comp package is a great deal for $2500 and I think the ZCP wheels are the best looking of the stock wheels.

umm, that's not how you calculate it. it's an extra 1200 to go from 18 to 19. You paid for the 18 inch already in the price of the car. The way to see it is, how much can you sell the 18's for on the forum then +1200 is the price of 19's.

Though the ZCP wheels are the best looking of the OEM offerings, I'd still get the regular 19" 220M wheels. They're forged, which means they're a heck of a lot stronger than the cast ZCP wheels, and they still look awesome on the car. I have them and think they look so good that I won't bother going after market.

Even if BMW offered the gunmetal 18's now, I would get the 19's without second thought on the convertible.

Ok, so $1200+1200=2400

What nice set of wheels can you get for 2400? (new)

Used, you're looking at high 2s, low 3s give or take

Nice does not equal replicas though :P
