Track Preview: The Ridge Motorsports Park

A little write-up I posted on Brave1heart's performance driving blog: www.onehotlap.com.

Hope you enjoy it. Many people, including myself, have a hard time containing their excitement about the Ridge Motorsports Park. Cannot wait until my first time on this new track next year.

Yep. Can't wait too Nicolas. Be interesting to see if it's going to be murder on the brakes after that NICE straight. That reminds me... winter brake project.
Folks, come to Oregon and Washington. With both Oregon Raceway Park and RMP both new in the last 3 years or so we have more elevation and tight sweepers to play on than ever.
And, it doesn't really rain on track days either...seriously, they are planned this way.

Turn one not being banked is very very very very sketchy. There will be a lot of crashes there I guarentee it.

Thanks for posting this information Nicolas - very exciting! I like the video with the track map underneath it as I now have another 16 turn track to learn.

I've seen this video before, but I figured I'd watch again, and this time I watched to the very end. Imagine my surprise: the face you see just as the camera clicks off is the crew chief for Bullet Racing, the race team that manages the open lapping days I do at Mission Raceway. He performed the safety inspection on my Mustang so I could start running 2011 PCA days in Seattle.

I'll contact them and see if they have plans for running events at Ridge.

Sunday was the VIP grand opening at The Ridge. Each driver school organization was given 10 or so slots. Unfortunately I was not one of the slots but I was able to ride along with a very good driver to learn the line. Eddie Nakato of AR auto service and "tame" racing driver was able to hit 118mph on the front in a stock 95 miata (100 hp) Our cars are going to be moving at the end of the straight 140-145mph + .....in general it will be a high speed track……and “interesting” at those speeds! The elevation gain and loss is difficult to appreciate in the videos.

This is a picture from up on the ridge. There is also another paved paddock to the right of the picture that is full of cars and trailers. There was a great turn out for the event.

Enjoy the new track!
We are awaiting a few new tracks to come to fruition here in the Northeast too.

Looks like a fun track - I see some trees that still need to go though.

There are a few trees i hope they take out. i believe they still have another layer of asphalt to go down then curbs. Run off should be good compared to PIR and Pacific. I did talk to one person that put 4 tires off at turn one and they came out of it just fine. Drove back onto the track....

Just added a December 11 (fresh off the oven!) video from the track which gives out a much better idea of the track's elevation changes! The track looks fantastic. The course layout reminds me a lot of Monticello in upstate New York, which is one of the best tracks I've driven - right up there with the Glen, Tremblant and V.I.R.

Beautiful track but all those trees are scary.

A lot less trees than the other track in the area: Pacific Raceways :-)

VERY cool to see the Ridge Motorsports Park sponsor a car in the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona It looks like they are the title sponsor too. Does anyone have details on this?

The Porsche with the Ridge Motorsports Park decals are from Bullet Racing out of British Columbia. Bullet Racing has entered into a partnership to make The Ridge their home track.

Go down the list in link below to see the press release.

Bullet's a good organization. They provide the professional management of about half the track days I do at Mission Raceway in BC. I'm hoping they run some days at Ridge.
