Wheel Opinion for my New M3

As most of you know by now, I've ordered a 2010 White M3 Coupe. I've almost always run aftermarket wheels. The Ferrari is one of the first cars I left completely stock.

Now that Ive decided to go with an M3, would you put these 20" Maya's off my M6 on the new M3, or stay with the stock M3 19" wheel?? I must admit, I still love these wheels.

Just give it to me staight. :thumbsup2:

not a huge fan of those, but may look better on the M3 vs the M6.

may I ask why you went from an M6 to an M3?

With that lift, you should be running some Mickey Thompsons or Mud Terrains.

But in all seriousness, those are some good looking wheels, remind me of Breytons. I'd recommend crusing the Wheel Weight sticky thread for alternatives. There are a ton of wheels available now.

Hey man, I'm originally from Toronto and on my way there to see family on Saturday. Its so interesting how we all have such different opinions. I totally love those wheels. I shopped for 6 months to find the wheel I liked best for the M6. I just didn't know how they'd look on the M3.

In answer to the M6 vs M3 question. It pretty simple. I love the M6 and I love the M3. I've had 2 previous M3's. I also love change, so I figured I go for an M3 for a couple of years until the new M6 comes out, and then order one of those. Probably 2012.

And BTW, I totally respect your opinion. Love the wheels on your car as well.

Mayas are nice rims, I havent seen them much on here, but they're big with the Benz crowd.

I think they'd look nice on the M3...just my opinion though

I like those Maya's a lot. Not sure on an M3, but maybe?

The way i see it though, if your switching cars, might as well switch up the wheels

To me, one of the big advantages of going from an M6 to an M3 is improved responsiveness and handling. Heavy 20" wheels will hurt you in that regard, so I'd probably get a more performance oriented (but still good-looking) set of aftermarket 19" wheels.

I had those Maya's on my E55 (if they are STM's cause they look very close) and while they weighed about 24lbs they were softer than gooseshit... if you live in an area with good roads (which I think you do) they might work. The offsets are key- I had HRE 897R's 20x9 and 20x11 on my M6 and they will not fit on the M3...

Wow the kindness on this forum today is strange. To the op: I would go with a light weight one piece mesh wheel. Your current wheels belong on a luxury sedan imo. I would go with something sportier.

Yet to see a wheel that looks anywhere near as good as the OEM 19".

They are good looking, which is why I plan on keeping mine even after my new wheels arrive.

To the OP...

You need to slow down brother.

The first thing you need to do...is check the offsets of these wheels. (as someone correctly mentioned earlier)

Everything else is moot, until you can verify whether these wheels will even fit the M3.

Worry about how they will 'look', after that has been done.

It wouldn't hurt to throw them on the M3 when it arrives just to see how they turn out. I agree with the others. They'd look a whole lot better on the M6 with a drop. Keep that in mind for the M3 as wheels always look better without the fender gap.

Dude, that was the first thing I did. I'm actually a real car guy, even if you're not down with my taste.

Thanks guys. I've decided to stay stock for now.
